Instagram Posts That Caused Messy Breakups

Navigating the cut-throat world of social media can be pretty tricky at times, especially when it comes to relationships. Our private lives are no longer as private as they once were, and that's just us regular folk. For celebrities, dating in the social media age is infinitely trickier. You have the eyes of the wider world on you at all times, and if you make a mistake or speak out of turn in any way, it's guaranteed to get noticed.

The one thing this group of celebrities all have in common is that they could do with hiring someone to look after their Instagram accounts for them. Some of these famous faces messed up big time on Intsa, posting things that would ultimately cost them their relationships, while others still don't think they've done anything wrong, even after being dumped. From playboy rappers and professional athletes to reckless reality TV stars, these celebs' Instagram posts led to some pretty messy breakups.

Rob Kardashian shared an explicit video of Blac Chyna on Instagram

Rob Kardashian's relationship with baby mama Blac Chyna began messy (Chyna became available when she was dumped by Tyga, who left her for Kardashian's younger half-sister, Kylie Jenner) and it ended messy, too. The wheels came off spectacularly in July 2017, when Kardashian went on an explosive Instagram rant, accusing Chyna of cheating on him with multiple men. In a series of posts, the reality star shared sexually explicit videos of his former fiancée and alleged that she was a drug addict who repeatedly used him for monetary gain.

"More receipts to come of all the drugs that were dropped off to her house yesterday including 100 bottles of Moet Rose she asked me to get her," Kardashian wrote (via Bustle). "U will never see Dream again unless u stop the alcohol and drugs and cocaine and X and E. Lol. That's called a party pack." Chyna responded to her angry partner's tirade over on Snapchat, where she alleged that Kardashian had physically assaulted her. The accusation didn't slow him down one bit.

Kardashian continued to lash out on Instagram, adding cosmetic procedures to the long list of things he claimed to have shelled out for, which included expensive jewelry and several sports cars: "I had my daughter out of love but this woman left the second I paid for her body surgery." By this point it was pretty clear that this celeb pairing was done and dusted.

PartyNextDoor's bedroom snap caused widespread outrage online

In 2016, an event described by Elite Daily as "one of the most vicious instances of public infidelity imaginable" unfolded on Instagram. Canadian rapper PartyNextDoor posted a photo of himself and his ex-girlfriend, singer-songwriter Kehlani, lying in bed together. Nothing too scandalous about that, right? Wrong. Kehlani was supposed to be in a relationship with NBA star Kyrie Irving at the time, and PND's picture of the pair cozying up caused mass uproar online.

According to Kehlani, she had already ended things with Irving when the picture in question was taken, she just hadn't made that information public yet. Not everybody was buying that explanation. The musician was trolled so badly on social media that she apparently attempted to take her own life — after deleting all of her prior Instagram pics, she shared a photo from a hospital bed, with an IV stuck in her tattooed arm.

Sadly, the hate only got worse, with some instances of people turning up at Kehlani's shows just to hurl insults at her. Two years after the original post, Irving stepped in and backed up her story. "I do not justify the picture or what dude did to try and spark all of this nonsense that could have been avoided, but me and Kehlani were not dating when the picture came out," he revealed (via Entertainment Tonight).

Kyrie Irving was ditched after posting a Christmas Day groupie photo

NBA point guard Kyrie Irving has been involved in more than one Instagram controversy. Four years before R&B singer Kehlani was accused of cheating on him, the basketball star himself faced criticism for apparently doing the exact same thing. It all started on Christmas Day 2012, when a picture of Irving with two women draped over him appeared on his Instagram feed and vanished a short while later.

According to Deadspin, the athlete (who was dating Brazilian model Natalia Garibotto at the time) took to Twitter to explain the anomaly, blaming the internet during a vague and increasingly guilty-sounding explanation. "That was not me posting that I'm really sorry fans," Irving wrote. "I'm really appalled to see that!! What the Internet can do nowadays ... Would never post something like that, especially when I have my wife Natalia Garibotto, crazy!!!" Irving tagged Garibotto in the last tweet, and for a while it seemed as though she was buying it. "For everyone tweeting at me, nothing is up," the model said. "Just a couple h**s who need attention and clearly in desire for more Ig and [Twitter] followers."

The Brazilian stunner played the whole thing off in public, though according to Bossip, she privately sent Irving packing there and then. Other reports suggest the two remained involved over the next few years (Inquisitr claims they lasted until 2014), but Irving's Instagram gaffe was seemingly the beginning of the end.

Waka Flocka Flame was caught in bed with a side-chick on Instagram

In 2020, Waka Flocka Flame and his wife, Tammy Rivera, returned to television with their own reality series, Waka & Tammy — What The Flocka. The married couple (who have appeared on Love and Hip Hop: Atlanta and Marriage Boot Camp together) renewed their wedding vows the previous year after they managed to overcome Waka's infidelity. Their issues began in May 2014, when an alleged side-chick took to Instagram and posted pictures of herself lying in bed with the sleeping rapper. Although Rivera initially brushed off the incriminating snaps ("You can't destroy what God has built," she wrote, per Vlad TV), she would ultimately concede that she had been cheated on.

Rivera walked away from Waka, but she still loved him. Speaking on Power 105's The Breakfast Club, she revealed that she allowed him back into their home so she could "dog him out" for a while, thinking that he would soon "give up" on his attempts to win her back during their separation, but it didn't pan out like that. "When I say I was gone, I was gone — it was nothing that man could say to get me back," the singer-reality star said. Rivera admitted that she would be "so evil" to her then-ex on a regular basis, even pretending to be on the phone with another man as she walked around the house, but Waka took his punishment gladly and eventually earned her forgiveness.

Alex Pall was filmed lip-locking a mystery woman

Alex Pall of the platinum selling EDM duo The Chainsmokers was exposed as a cheater by his girlfriend, Tori Woodward, in 2018. The DJ was captured on residential CCTV kissing another woman. When Woodward discovered the shocking footage, she took some screenshots and shared them on her Instagram Stories. "Alex is disgusting," she captioned one of the stills (via People). "Men are trash. Don't ever forget it." On another shot that appeared to show Pall making out with the mystery woman, Woodward wrote: "They'll look you in the eyes and tell you they love you, then destroy you without a second thought."

Woodward became convinced that Pall had cheated more than once, and she was right. Things got messy when she interrogated her beau about some past encounters with women (she admitted to grilling him about some "psycho b**ch from Vegas" and a "lame Instagram model"), and the disc jockey reportedly cracked. "After hours of begging him for scraps of honesty, I chipped away just enough to confirm that this is not the first time," Woodward told her followers, before revealing that Pall hadn't even apologized. "In different words, [he said] that because he's famous now, he had a different rulebook for decency."

Pall got out of dodge in the aftermath, flying to Qatar for a gig. When TMZ caught him in departures at LAX, he told them he'd been "miserable" since Woodward dumped him. "She deserves a better guy than me."

Zonnique's athlete boyfriend's affair was exposed on Instagram

Former pop star Zonnique and her athlete beau, Damian Swann, appeared to be so in love when their relationship came crashing down in 2017. In April of that year, Zonnique's mother, Tamika "Tiny" Harris, gave the New Orleans Saints defensive back her blessing in an interview with Essence, gushing to the mag about how the couple had known each other since high school. Zonnique (who was a member of the group OMG, but is probably better known for featuring in her parents' reality show, T.I. and Tiny: The Family Hustle) must have gotten quite the shock when receipts of Swann's scandalous affair appeared online a few months later.

It all started when the friend of a woman from Houston, who claimed she'd been in a romantic relationship with Swann for around five months, sent an incriminating video to The Shade Room, who then posted it to Instagram. The unidentified woman (who secretly filmed the NFL star driving them during one of their secret meetings) claimed that Swann had even flown her into Louisiana to visit him over the course of his relationship with Zonnique. The outlet also got hold of some text messages, in which Swann appeared to tell his mistress that he had a surprise for her (via Hip Hop My Way).

Unsurprisingly, Zonnique kicked Swann to the curb. The celebrity scion round-about confirmed as much when she spent Valentines Day with her friends.

Chris Brown accused Karrueche Tran of going on secret dates with Drake

Chris Brown remains notorious for his violent relationship with Rihanna, but he's actually been through a number of other messy dramas since then. While the singer's on-and-off romance with actress-model Karrueche Tran came to a close in 2015, the seeds of their demise were sown in December of the previous year, when Tran posted an inspirational message to Instagram.

"When something bad happens, you can either let it define you, let it destroy you or let it strengthen you," Tran, who was starring in popular web series The Bay at the time, said in a now-deleted post (via Vulture). "The choice is yours." It was a vague message, but Brown apparently knew it was aimed at him. When the "Don't Wake Me Up" singer replied, he didn't hold back. Brown claimed that the "ride or die act" they had been putting on in public was all a facade, and went on to accuse Tran of going behind his back with another famous musician: "I was locked up for damn near four months and only got one visit from you while you was hosting parties and taking secret trips to Toronto, going on dates with Drake!"

Tran ended things for good when she discovered that Brown had fathered a child with another woman behind her back. She was forced to take out a restraining order against her ex, though Brown continued to harass her online.

Lil Xan claimed Noah Cyrus cheated and things got weird on Instagram

The weirdest celebrity breakup of 2018 started when SoundCloud rapper Lil Xan wrote the following on his Instagram Stories (via Teen Vogue): "I feel like I'm probably being cheated on." There's nothing odd about that (celebrity infidelity isn't all that rare, clearly), but his reasoning was pretty bizarre.

According to his now-ex girlfriend, Noah Cyrus (fifth child of Billy Ray and Tish and youngest sibling of Miley Cyrus), the rapper became convinced that she was cheating on him after she sent him a meme, in which Charlie Puth's head is photoshopped into an adult movie scene. Cyrus shared the meme on Instagram to show people how innocent (if you can call it that) it was, telling her followers she was "heartbroken and confused" by the whole thing.

Things only got messier from there. According to People, Cyrus went live on Instagram to defend herself. "I never did anything that I'm getting accused of," the teary singer told her followers, advising them to "get away from every f**king person that goes into your life and just crushes it and crumbles it and makes you feel like a piece of f**king s**t." Xan later clarified that it wasn't the Charlie Puth meme that made him accuse Cyrus of cheating — it was because she was allegedly "all over some other dude" on Instagram. She also accused him of cheating, citing a "hickey" on his neck as proof. Ah, young love.

Ronnie Ortiz-Magro polled his Insta followers about baby mama Jen Harley

Jersey Shore star Ronnie Ortiz-Magro and girlfriend Jen Harley went through a very messy, very public split in 2018. Just weeks after the couple welcomed their first child together, Ortiz-Magro took to his Instagram Stories and shared a note that would ultimately lead to their breakup. "Note to self, can't turn a natural born H**, into a HOUSEWIFE, if you find them in the gutter then leave them in the gutter," he wrote (via People). "Not all people can be saved when they are so far gone. All you can say [is] you did [your] best and keep it moving."

That alone would be enough to end most couples, but the reality star wasn't quite done. In a move that was never going to end well, Ortiz-Magro decided to set up a poll so his followers could have their say on the following question: "If your significant other keeps sex videos of their ex, shouldn't they show enough respect to delete them, [especially] after being in a new relationship for over a year?" Yikes. He quickly added an apology to his Instagram Stories, but the peace didn't last long — hours later, Harley went live on Instagram during what seemed to be an altercation. "Put your f**king hands on me again," Ortiz-Magro could be heard saying, according to People. "I dare you. I f**king dare you."

Unsurprisingly, the couple never recovered. "They're done," an insider later told E! News.

Todrick Hall posted an ad for a new boyfriend on Instagram

Todrick Hall, the American Idol semi-finalist who went on to become a TV personality, successful YouTuber, and Broadway star, used Instagram to call a cheating boyfriend out in 2018. The RuPaul's Drag Race judge and choreographer posted a seven-point memo for future partners on his Stories, letting his beau (whom he identified only as "Danny") know in no uncertain terms that they were done. Hall's scathing memo (per E! News) included things like, "Must not ever underestimate me," and, "Must not come on tour with me, meet other guys, start sleeping with them and give them comp tickets to my show particularly on days when I'm burying my relative." Yikes.

Hall's followers were absolutely outraged, and they quickly mobilized against his former boyfriend. According to Joyscribe, some even made death threats against him. Things got so messy that Hall actually had to step in and defend the man he so publicly dumped for allegedly cheating. "Please don't attack Danny anymore, he is a good person who just made a human mistake," Hall said, admitting that he probably shouldn't have aired everything on Instagram in the way he did. "I will continue to work on building a better me, but don't ever lie to me, cuz I'm f**kin' crazy. K bye."
