Ariana Grande Defends Herself, Justin Bieber Against Criticism On Quick Engagements

Ariana Grande has something to say.

On Sunday, July 8, 2018, the "No Tears Left To Cry" singer spoke out against the criticism she and fellow pop star Justin Bieber have received following recent news of their quick engagements.

"First Ariana get engaged to Pete Davidson and now Justin Bieber to Hailey Baldwin," a fan wrote in a since-deleted tweet, before joking about Grande and Bieber's shared manager, Scooter Braun (via Entertainment Tonight). "The devil works hard but Scooter Braun works harder."

In a later-deleted quote-tweet, the 25-year-old singer replied, "You do realize we are human beings who love and have lives ...... right .... ? And that Scooter is a wonderful human being too who cares first [and] foremost [about] our health and happiness? Love is lit. S**t happens. I hope to God it happens to you too. [You] deserve it."

As Nicki Swift previously reported, Grande's whirlwind romance with 24-year-old comedian Pete Davidson has been making headlines since before the two became engaged last month after only a few weeks of dating. While the cute pair have reportedly known each other since Grande hosted Saturday Night Live in 2016, they first got together in late May 2018.

Earlier that month, Grande had split from boyfriend Mac Miller after nearly two years of dating. Around that time, Davidson confirmed that he and his girlfriend of two years, Cazzie David, had also broken up.

Meanwhile, Bieber, 24, reportedly proposed to Hailey Baldwin, 21, this past weekend at a restaurant on a Bahamas resort. The on-and-off couple were first romantically linked in late 2015, but broke up the following year. After the "Sorry" hitmaker called it quits with on-again, off-again girlfriend Selena Gomez in April 2018, he and Baldwin rekindled their romance in June.

Grande and Bieber may have moved pretty fast in their respective relationships, but they aren't the only stars to surprise fans with their engagements this summer. David Foster proposed to Katharine McPhee last week during their Capri vacation. The news came only months after they made their official red carpet debut as a couple at the Met Gala.
