Times Solange Knowles Embarrassed Beyonce

Solange Knowles isn't Beyoncé—nor does she want to be. The brash, indie darling has, in fact, probably humiliated her seemingly "***Flawless" big sister quite a few times.

She was the original teen mom

Beyoncé, until recently, has flaunted a fairly scandal-free public image, so when Solange got pregnant at 17 during the Destiny's Child heyday, the family worked swiftly to hide as much as they could for as long as possible. Solange married her son's father, Daniel Smith, in 2004 and gave birth to son Daniel Julez Smith shortly after. The couple lived in relative obscurity in Idaho, where Daniel attended college. The young couple divorced when Solange was 19. She told Harper's Bazaar that despite the breakup, they still get along. "We co-parent really well. I'm able to say, 'I need to finish this album, can you step up and take care of the boy?'"

That time she copped an attitude on TV for no reason

In August 2008, Solange Knowles gave one of her first television interviews to a local Fox station. Solange was on hand to promote her album, Hadley St. Dreams, and seemed to either hallucinate or grossly misinterpret the introduction to her interview, referencing footage that never aired. "I have to say, that was not a very professional introduction before," she sassed. "Please don't tie me into family and my brother-in-law's establishment." Here's the problem: No one said anything about anyone else but Solange, making her rant about professionalism come off as totally unfounded and hypocritical. As a result, one of the local anchors ripped her a new one, and, well, she sort of deserved it.

She might have a substance abuse issue

Page Six reports that Solange may have substance abuse issues based on her own since-deleted tweets and admissions. When a reporter asked her if her song "Champagne Chronic Nightcap" was about drugs, she replied, "I am unapologetic. I don't write about things unless they're true!" In February 2009, the tabloid said Solange tweeted about a hospital stay resulting from a NyQuil overdose. Later in 2009, she tweeted, "I don't even smoke weed that often but I'm finding that I can't remember things. Gotta be something else."

She may have argued with cops...over an inflatable banana

In 2011, Solange live-tweeted an incident with Miami police in which she was stopped from bringing a 5-foot-tall inflatable banana into a nightclub, saying an officer pulled a gun on her. Yes, you read that correctly. However, police told The Miami Herald that absolutely nothing happened. "Over the weekend, the lion's share of the mainstream and entertainment media reported that the Miami Police Department had a confrontation with Solange Knowles...We have investigated and found that this incident did not occur in our city."

E! News reported that something happened, it's just unclear exactly what: "The whole entire incident was about the fact that she was not allowed in a club," Detective Juan Sanchez said. "When she became abusive, she was pulled to the side. There was no mention of a gun. Considering it might be an internal investigation I can't tell you much other than that." Right. Got it.

That time she cancelled an entire tour

In July 2013, Solange canceled a tour, citing concerns about her psychological state. "I am completely devastated," she wrote on her website (via Radar Online). "I really had to make the best decision for my mental/physical health and provide some stability for my family." Solange cited the stresses of moving from Los Angeles to Brooklyn as the root cause of her issues.

That time she kicked the crap out of Jay Z

Solange solidified her status as a legendary street fighter when she attacked Beyoncé's husband, rapper Jay Z, in an elevator at a Met Gala after-party in 2014. While her big sister looked on, elevator security cameras showed Solange going ballistic, yelling and kicking Jay Z, and even throwing a purse at him. When the footage leaked to TMZ, the internet went crazy, and Solange become an instant meme.

Though it's unclear what led to the altercation, Us Weekly reports that Rachel Roy—better known now as the "Becky with the good hair"—may have played a role. Other sources say that Solange's alleged substance abuse fueled her attack on Hova. Page Six described Solange as "belligerent" and "like a pressure cooker waiting to explode," with one source revealing, "Solange had too much to drink and was out of it by the time the performances started after the dinner at the Met Ball."

Her shady subtweets

As if her elevator brawl at the Met Gala in 2014 wasn't embarrassing enough, Solange had to go and start drama again. During the 2016 Met Gala, Solange skipped the haymakers and instead took to subtweeting to make her jabs. She wrote (and then deleted), "Shout out to when you think you all 'artsy and s***,' but your [sic] just rude and annoying lol." The show biz hounds desperately tried to figure out who Solange was shading, while a lot of us face-palmed at her misuse of "your" and "you're."
