What Really Went Wrong Between Taylor Swift And Calvin Harris

Sorry, Tayvin shippers. They're done. Calvin Harris (real name: Adam Wiles) was Taylor Swift's longest relationship, and now they're tapping out after about 15 months. What happened?

She wasn't his type

In a November 2014 interview on Capital FM in London, Harris said he'd swipe left on Swift. "She's lovely, but she's the opposite of my type," he said. "I'd go left." Someone who earned a right swipe from Harris? Ellie Goulding, a frequent Harris collaborator who introduced him to Swift at the BRIT Awards in February 2015. Hmm.

They may have had trust issues

Despite not being Harris' type, Swift still managed to hook up with him while he was dating model Aarika Wolf. Sources told the New York Daily News that Harris was cheating on Wolf with Swift before he dumped the comely brunette. The insider said, "Calvin and Aarika met on the set of his music video 'Blame' in August, and they started officially dating in October. They were full-on boyfriend/girlfriend for about six months; totally joined at the hip." For those of you in remedial math, that means when he and Swift first shacked up (allegedly in February or March), Haris and Wolf were still together. The source added, "He ended up breaking up with Aarika, and then just pretended that the Taylor Swift stuff happened after [the breakup]."

The shadiness may not have ended there. Radar Online reports the couple almost split in October when Harris was photographed leaving a massage parlor, but they were able to salvage the relationship, possibly after he threatened to sue the pants off anyone who had the nerve to run the photos. Radar interestingly noted that Harris went to the massage parlor despite having his own private masseuse on staff.

It wasn't just Swift who had reason to side-eye her partner's behavior. Radar Online reports that Harris went into a jealous rage when he learned that Swift got her groove on with Tom Hiddleston at the Met Gala in early May 2016, even though the deejay skipped out on the party.

He may have taken advantage of her fame

"It's awkward because Calvin's friends are very much the late-night club and DJ crowd; Taylor doesn't seem to fit in," an insider told the New York Daily News. "Calvin's friends think he's doing it because it's good for his profile—and he kind of thinks it's funny." Yeah, definitely not the best reason to embark on a full-blown relationship with someone.

Sources close to the couple explained to Page Six that Harris didn't join Swift at the 2016 Met Gala because he "doesn't like going to a lot of events." Considering Swift was a co-chair of fashion's biggest night, you'd think he'd make an exception to support his girlfriend for one day.

The spark went out

"It seemed like they were more friends than lovers," a source admitted to E! News. "Taylor and Adam had no big blowout fight, but the romance just was not there anymore for them. Adam is the one that ended it. It was all done in a very mature fashion. Taylor is pretty upset but they are still in communication." The source added that the couple's touring schedules and distance didn't help.

Her squad may have been too much

Everywhere Swift went, her squad was sure to follow, and that probably got old for her beau. There are endless photos of Swift with her pals (including Lorde, Selena Gomez, Karlie Kloss, Gigi Hadid, and a slew of other models), plus Harris looking, at best, mildly amused by his surroundings. Harris may have wanted privacy, not just from paparazzi, but also from her pals.

Another good question: where were his friends? The Daily Mail says the couple ran in almost totally different social circles, so constantly being bombarded with the "Bad Blood" video girls may have gotten pretty boring for the Scottish deejay.

She may have been more invested in the relationship

An insider told E! News that Swift held Harris to a nearly impossible standard. "Taylor was really disappointed in Calvin and felt like he wasn't there for her. The relationship wasn't progressing the way she wanted it to. She felt like he wasn't taking it seriously enough and wouldn't come through for her when she needed him most. She felt down and like her needs weren't being met. She doesn't want to get back together."The source said, "Adam really liked Taylor...[her] heart was more in it then he was. He started to lose interest over the past few months, but really tried to not just break up."

The imbalance between the pair was evident at the iHeartRadio Music Awards in April 2016. While the 26-year-old Swift gushed about "having someone to come home to" in her acceptance speech for "Best Tour," Harris, 32, didn't mention the country-crossover once in his own rambling speech. What's more, Radar Online reports that Harris seemed "bored" the entire time and only touched Swift when cameras were around to catch them. Cold!
