Why Bradley Cooper is the worst person to date in Hollywood

Bradley Cooper is handsome, rich, and super-successful. Still, that doesn't necessarily mean he's a catch. In fact, he might be one of the worst men to date in Hollywood. Here's why this hunk may not be worth the hassle.

He's an opportunist

Cooper often romances his co-stars…only to drop them right after their movies don't need publicity anymore. He dated Jennifer Aniston in 2009 around the time He's Just Not That Into You went to DVD before quickly dropping her for Renee Zellweger, his co-star in Case 39. Cooper dumped Zellweger in March 2011, not long after he met Zoe Saldana, his co-star in The Words. He split from Saldana not long after the movie hit theaters. If you're noticing a pattern, it's because maybe there is one.

He's a major player...with a small field

Remember how Cooper dated Saldana after they met while making The Words? Reportedly, she wasn't even his first choice in co-stars. According to Us Weekly, Cooper had previously hooked up on set with another cast member, Olivia Wilde. The man may need to throw a wider net to avoid drama at awards shows someday.

He might be disrespectful

Saldana dated Cooper off and on, and once it was off for good, that was it. Why? She told Marie Claire, "I have been in relationships where a man has disrespected me, and I don't need to be friends with that man anymore. I don't want to be the one going, 'I'm cool, because I'm friends with all my exes.' There's a reason why you're called an ex…You cross a line, you need to know that you're going to walk this earth knowing that there's an individual who has no respect for you." Other than Cooper and her husband, Marco Perego, Saldana's only had one other relationship that we know about—for 11 years, before she was famous.

He might be a "master manipulator"

Cooper's ex-wife of only four months, Jennifer Esposito, has hinted that he may not be the best beau. In her book Jennifer's Way (via Us Weekly), she calls out a past love that many believe is Cooper. "I should have noticed the red flags from the beginning—actually, they were more like an entire marching band squad of red flags—but I ignored them…He was funny, smart, cocky, arrogant, and a master manipulator…he also had a mean, cold side. His personality could flip on a dime…Within days, my relationship hit an all-time low, and within a week, it was over. Abruptly, rudely, and with the exact callousness that I'd come to expect from him, but this time, I did nothing but agree to end it." Doesn't sound like B. Coop would make the best boyfriend in that scenario, right?

He lives with his mom

Cooper takes "mama's boy" to an unprecedented level: He's 41, rich, and lives with his mom. He told Details, "She's a cool chick. We can hang. And she can roll with the punches. If that wasn't the case, there's no way…It's not like I live in a compound and she's in the guesthouse. No, she's in the next room."

...and she has a LOT of say in who he dates

Cooper's mom, Gloria Campano, reportedly detested Saldana and played a huge role in the demise of their on-again/off-again romance. A source told Radar Online, "Gloria tried to get to know Zoe when they rekindled their romance, but she still didn't think she was a good fit for him so when Zoe and Bradley started talking to one another again, she told Bradley that their relationship failed twice already, what's the point of going through all of that again?" The source added, "Like all moms, Gloria is very protective of her son, and gets to know his girlfriends well. She approved of Renee Zellweger and they are still friends to this day. But she just didn't click with Zoe, found her a little difficult to get to know, and it seemed like Zoe was perhaps a little intimidated by her. You do have to wonder if Bradley will ever find a girl that is perfect for him and his mom!"

He lets everyone meddle in his love life

Not only does Cooper have a media microscope on all of his relationships, but he lets his friends and family meddle in his love life way too much. It goes beyond just his mom—Jennifer Lawrence, Cooper's co-star in Silver Linings Playbook and American Hustle, told MTV News that she's often acted as a matchmaker for him. "I feel like all I've been doing lately is setting him up. I was like, 'You know what? I'm going to save time, I'm going to get you a booklet of pictures of my friends and you just go through and pick them out,'" she said. "This is getting exhausting for me."

He's got player buddies

It looks like Cooper may be letting his BFF Leonardo DiCaprio influence his dating life. After very public relationships with co-stars, Cooper moved on to romancing a series of models, including Melanie Laurent, Suki Waterhouse, and now Irina Shayk. DiCaprio is a notorious playboy and basically uses Victoria's Secret catalogs as his own private personals column, so his bromance with Cooper may be coloring the lens with which he looks at his own love life.
