The Truth About Angela Simmons And Bow Wow's Relationship

It is completely normal for fans to grow emotionally attached to celebrity couples from beginning to end. As for Angela Simmons and Shad "Bow Wow" Moss, their uncanny relationship still has fans on the edge of their seats in hopes of a romantic reconciliation between the Growing Up Hip-Hop co-stars.

Simmons appears to have moved on to bigger and better things with her supposed new boo. When the 32-year-old reality star posted a photo holding hands with 33-year-old professional boxer Daniel Jacobs on her Instagram on Aug. 8, 2020, some followers flooded her account with comments about her ex. As one commenter quipped: "Bow Wow somewhere punching the air."

Much to the surprise (and disbelief) of some members of his fan base, Bow Wow supports Simmons' relationship with Jacobs. Taking to Instagram live, the 33-year-old former rapper told his fans that he is in Simmons' corner. "That's my dog, man, we've been telling y'all we're just friends. I'm happy for her — matter of fact, I was like one of the first people to text her and tell her I was so happy for her."

Despite Simmons' new relationship, there are still questions in the air about the nature of her "friendship" with the controversial rapper. Keep scrolling to uncover the truth about this pair's complicated situation.

Bow Wow and Angela Simmons were teenage sweethearts

Angela Simmons and Shad "Bow Wow" Moss' storyline goes deeper than what we see on Growing Up Hip-Hop. According to a shared Instagram live in April 2020, the two child stars connected in their teens at a Word Up! magazine photo shoot. Prior to that introduction, the Run's House star recalled having a childhood crush on Bow Wow. The two exchanged numbers when they met, even though Simmons was already in a relationship at the time.

In the laughter-filled livestream, Simmons revealed that Bow Wow had been very transparent about his lifestyle before they became romantically involved with one another. "As we're texting he's like, 'I would not be no good for you. I'm a wild boy' — all this crazy stuff," she recalled. Bow Wow remembered that moment too. "I was like, 'Where I'm at in my life, I can't be who I need to be for you right now. I'm too wild.'"

In 2006, Simmons and Bow Wow reportedly began dating. She even appeared in his video for "Shortie Like Mine." Alas, this relationship never officially made into serious boyfriend/girlfriend territory. Here's why.

Bow Wow wasn't ready for commitment

Even though she'd been warned, Angela Simmons recalls facing several heartbreaks at the hands of her first love, Shad "Bow Wow" Moss. In a preview for Growing Up Hip-Hop: Atlanta, Simmons catches up with Bow Wow's mom, Teresa, to discuss where the relationship with her son went wrong. "He was not ready," Simmons says. "It was a long time ago." Teresa interjects, noting that Simmons is one of her "favorites" but recognizing that her son was "too young."

Bow Wow's version of their dating history doesn't deviate much from Simmons' recollection. In a Growing Up Hip-Hop: Atlanta confessional, he reveals that Simmons being a virgin played a role in the end of their romantic relationship. "We never, ever made it to the boyfriend/girlfriend stage. Her morals were kind of different than mine," he said. "She was a virgin. I didn't understand [that]," Bow Wow said, explaining that he didn't want to wait.

In the years that followed, both Bow Wow and Simmons have been linked to other people. Bow Wow has a 9-year-old daughter, Shai, with dancer Joie Chavis. At one point, he was engaged to Love and Hip-Hop star Erica Mena, before calling it quits in 2015. Simmons has a 3-year-old son, Sutton Joseph, with her former fiancé, Sutton Tennyson. Tennyson was tragically gunned down in 2018 outside of his Atlanta home.

Angela Simmons & Bow Wow made a big pact

Shad "Bow Wow" Moss and Angela Simmons have a solid friendship on and off camera. The two reality stars have been co-hosts on BET's 106 and Park and speak to each other on the reg. In fact, their flirty TikTok video leaves fans puzzled about the parameters of their friendship, and it seems both parties are not exactly opposed to the possibility of rekindling an old flame.

On a February 2020 episode of The Real, Simmons had this to say about her ex: "Bow, I love him to death. I've known him since 17, and that's my friend. If something ever happened, that would be what happens — but for me, I'm chilling. That's my friend."

Bow Wow shared the same sentiment in an interview with HollywoodLife. "If me and Ang were to get together, it won't be what they see on TV anymore," he said. "The whole dynamic will change, and we don't want that. We want it to be just like how it is."

Simmons and Bow Wow even made a pact on an episode of Growing Up Hip-Hop that if they're not settled by a certain age, they're going to tie the knot with one another. "If yo a** ain't married by 36, then we're just gonna get married and have a kid," he told a giggly Simmons. Although it may not be the ideal fairy tale, these two speak highly of their friendship. Will it ever turn into more? We'll just have to stay tuned!
