Alan Thicke Dies At 69

Growing Pains star Alan Thicke passed away on Dec. 13, 2016, at age 69. TMZ reported that Thicke was playing hockey with his 19-year-old son, Carter Thicke, when he felt nauseous, vomited and complained of chest pains. He was transported to Providence St. Joseph's Medical Center in Burbank, Calif., where he was pronounced dead.

Carter posted a moving tribute to his father on Instagram, writing, "Today I lost my best friend and my idol, and the world lost one of it's [sic] finest. I have never known a more kind, loving, hairy, and generous person in my life and I am forever grateful for the light that this man brought to my life and so many others. You will be missed every second of every day. You are a legend and I love you Pops. Until next time."

Singer Robin Thicke told the Los Angeles Times that his father was "the greatest man I've ever met...always a gentleman." He added, "The good thing was that he was beloved and he had closure...I saw him a few days ago and told him how much I loved and respected him." He later wrote on Instagram, "My Father passed away today. He was the best man I ever knew. The best friend I ever had. Let's all rejoice and celebrate the joy he brought to every room he was in. We love you Alan Thicke. Thank you for your love. Love, your grateful son."

Robin's mother and Alan's ex-wife, actress and singer Gloria Loring, told Us Weekly, "Thank you for your kindness concerning Alan Thicke's passing. It is a shock. We were all just together for Thanksgiving. He was talented, funny and deeply devoted to his family. Rest In Peace, dear one."

Numerous other stars, including Ellen DeGeneres, Olivia Munn, Demi Lovato, Joel McHale, Ryan Seacrest, and John Legend also expressed their condolences for the beloved TV dad and theme song writer.
