Selena Gomez Gets Matching Tattoos With 13 Reasons Why Cast

Selena Gomez and two members of the 13 Reasons Why cast now share a permanent bond—literally.

It's only been a week since the debut of the hit Netflix series, but 13 Reasons Why has already gained widespread recognition and developed a significant fan base.

Gomez took to Instagram Stories on April 9, 2017 to reveal that she now has matching tattoos with two stars from the show, Alisha Boe and Tommy Dorfman. The trio all got a black semicolon, a small bit of ink that represents a larger message.

The show 13 Reasons Why tells the story of a teenager named Hannah Baker who commits suicide. After her death, Baker leaves 13 tapes for the 13 classmates whom she believes are to blame for her death. Gomez, Boe, and Dorfman got the tattoos in honor of the show's message. Thanks to Project Semicolon, the black semicolon has come to represent suicide prevention and mental health awareness.

Dorfman took to Instagram to share what his new ink means to him.

"I struggled with addiction and depression issues through high school and early college. I reached out and asked for help. At the time, I thought my life was over, I thought I'd never live past the age of 21," Dorfman wrote. "Today I'm grateful to be alive, in this new chapter of life in recovery, standing with my colleagues and friends, making art that helps other people."

Boe also explained the significance of Project Semicolon as well as paid tribute to the founder of the movement, Amy Bleul, who died on March 24, 2017.

"Today- Tommy, Selena and I got tattoos of a semicolon. Project semicolon is a movement dedicated to presenting hope for those suffering from depression, thoughts of suicide, addiction, and self-injury," Boe shared on Instagram. "Those of you watching 13 Reasons Why and identify with Hannah Baker, please check out Beyond The Reasons on netflix, or check out the link in my bio. Rest In Peace Amy Bluel, who started this movement."
