Shady Things About Chrissy Teigen That Everyone Just Ignores

It's easy to like Chrissy Teigen. She's beautiful, she gets paid to wear bikinis, she loves food, and sometimes she can be funny. However, there are a few skeletons lurking in that gorgeous closet. Behold, the shady side of the swimsuit stunner.

Her slut-shaming

In May 2013, Chrissy Teigen took to Twitter to slam Teen Mom star Farrah Abraham for trying to get the media to believe she'd gotten pregnant after filming a sex tape. Instead of going the more admirable and feminist route with her criticism and perhaps saying something about Abraham's lies, publicity stunts, or desperation, Teigen tweeted, "...you're a whore and everyone hates you." Some critics considered Teigen's slut-shaming a bit hypocritical, considering she often gets naked for money as well, just in a different context. When fans called the model out on her tirade, she stood by her words—the same words that pointed a finger at Abraham's porn star partner, James Deen, for his role in the tape. "Wow. Amazed to see the outrage behind calling a staged leaked sex tape chick from Teen Mom exactly what she is," Teigen tweeted. "Go on with your bad selves."

Her Katie Cassidy Shade

In January 2015, Arrow star Stephen Amell tweeted about sideline reporter Erin Andrews not asking Seattle Seahawks cornerback Richard Sherman a question about an injury. Amell's co-star, Katie Cassidy, chimed in too, asking why Andrews wasn't doing her job. Fairly innocuous, right? Except Cassidy was dating Andrews' ex, Los Angeles Kings hockey player Jarret Stoll. Whatever.

What matters is that Teigen, who is pals with Andrews, inserted herself into Cassidy and Amell's conversation, writing (via Us Weekly), "@MzKatieCassidy JOB [noun] : the work a person does regularly to make money. alt: what @ErinAndrews has. 2nd alt: What you don't have. Bye!" That would have been obnoxious even if it were true, but Cassidy had been a working actress for years, starring in Arrow since 2012 and Gossip Girl before that. With all that money and time on her hands, maybe Teigen should find a new hobby (or at least do her homework before firing off spontaneous insults on Twitter).

She made fun of a baby

In 2011, Teigen took to Twitter to instigate a feud with comedian and actor Jay Mohr over the name of his baby boy. "Nikki Cox and Jay Mohr named their son Meredith. Their son, Meredith. Meredith is their son's name. The name of their son is Meredith,"she tweeted (via E! News). Mohr wasn't amused and fired back at Teigen with assorted insults, including this one: "Take your skank ass somewhere where guys like six's in bikinis." The war went on and on. Even Teigen's then-boyfriend (not yet husband) John Legend got involved. Teigen finally surrendered after one particularly cruel jab at the self-made funny man. "Much like his career," she said, "I have no comeback. You win, Jay Mohr. You win."

Don't count on her to lend a helping hand

When Teigen hosted the Billboard Music Awards in May 2015, she was making her way to the stage when a woman tripped over her gown and fell. Instead of stopping to help the woman up or even check to see if she was okay, Teigen just kept strutting her stuff. Of course, Teigen took to Twitter to air her grievances after the incident, writing (via E! News), "For the record I couldn't even see the woman falling behind me—she stepped on my dress and I was trying not to eat s***. Everyone is saying I am some sort of monster for not stopping and giving her CPR or something—she is fine, was not a big deal. She should be out of the hospital by Christmas."

She uses people to get ahead

Teigen admitted to Cosmopolitan in June 2014, "I got so lucky that I met Brooklyn Decker and she [hooked me up with] Sports Illustrated. I got so lucky that I met John, who propelled my career. I'm not delusional: that definitely helped. But I don't want to be thought of as just John's wife, so I'm trying to make a name without it, which is hard in its own way." And yet she criticizes others for their work ethic?

She promotes sexist ideals

Teigen loves to play the "I'm not like other girls!" card. Case in point: she admitted to Cosmopolitan that she and Legend hooked up when they first met, but she hid her true feelings for a year in hopes of manipulating his. "I let him be himself for a while. The worst thing you can do is try to lock someone like that down early on, then have them think, There's so much more out there. I played it cool for a long time. Never once did I ask, 'What are we?' Marriage was never my goal, because I've never been very traditional. I was just happy to be with him." Hear that, girls? If you settle for scraps for years and ignore your own needs, you too can may land a Grammy winner!

She slammed a 9-year-old

When a 9-year-old Quvenzhané Wallis was absolutely adorable at the 2013 Oscars, Teigen had none of it. She (of course) tweeted about it: "Is it okay to call a small child cocky? I am forced to like Quvenzhané Wallis because she's a child right? Okay fine." Is that a joking or bullying? You be the judge.

Her Chris Brown drama

Let's make one thing clear: Chris Brown breeds controversy wherever he goes. That said, Teigen loves taking shots at the singer. In 2012, she tweeted (via E! News), "So excited to see Chris Brown! I love loud and surprising background fits of rage I can hear from the audience!" He didn't respond, but his fans did—prompting Breezy to write, "Team Breezy! Let's stop sending death threats! I know y'all bout that life but it's the wrong message! Ur turning haters into victims!"

Teigen wasn't done. In March 2015, she posted a sad face and a screenshot of her Twitter feed showing that Brown had blocked her, leading to another barrage from his fans...which could have easily been avoided if she didn't bother trolling Brown in the first place.

She rained on Tamera Mowry's parade

Teigen dissed actress Tamera Mowry on Twitter for no good reason in January 2015. Mowry posted a positive pregnancy test result sponsored by ClearBlue, and Teigen indirectly responded (via the Daily Star), "How much money does ClearBlue pay celebs to Instagram their p*** sticks this seems lucrative." When fans called Teigen out, she swore she wasn't be shady. Teigen, who announced her own pregnancy via Instagram just months early, had publicly discussed her own fertility struggles, so maybe her sarcasm was a case of sour grapes.

She has thin skin

For someone who makes a name for herself trolling others on Twitter, Teigen has a pretty thin skin when the same happens to her. In fact, she temporarily quit the social media outlet altogether in October 2014 because she couldn't take the heat.

It began when Teigen tweeted about a deadly shooting in Ottawa, Canada, writing, "active shooting in Canada, or as we call it in america, wednesday." The backlash was almost immediate, leading her to post a followup tweet that read, "Sorry you don't understand that is a knock at america and our issues with gun control. No one is minimizing the Ottawa shooting." Next, she wrote, "It's been a while since I inadvertently pissed a ton of people off. Forgot how much it sucks." She then replied to a fan offering her support for what he perceived as just an ill-timed joke, writing, "thank you but it honestly wasn't a joke. but I shouldn't have made it about us." Eventually, it got to be too much. "I can't see anything through the sea of hate and anger that is now my Twitter. Seriously I can't sift through it all," she wrote. "I feel sick. Bye Twitter. Taking my talents to instagram."

She can't stop with the TMI...

We all know far too much about Teigen's sex life with Legend. We could compile an entire list of reasons why, but for now, we'll narrow it down to just two incidences.

In one of her tamer moments, she told Cosmopolitan's June 2014 issue that she and Legend are members of the Mile High Club, boasting, "We were on our way to Thailand to see my parents, flying commercial first-class. We were under a blanket. We weren't even in one of those pod things. I feel like we should get a trophy for that...We're by no means freaky deaky, but let's just say we're open to things...We're very okay with PDA. When we go to a restaurant, he loves when I wear a dress, so he can do some upper-thigh rubbing."

They also revealed on Watch What Happens Live (via Us Weekly) some of the places they've slept together, including a presidential campaign event for Barack Obama as well as dressing rooms in retail stores and backstage on Legend's tours. Because we all needed to know.

...even about other people

Though Rihanna probably doesn't care, during an appearance on The Ellen DeGeneres Show, Teigen admitted to occasionally opening and reading the singer's mail. Seriously, Teigen explained that she and Legend live in a former Rihanna residence, adding, "I never in my life thought I'd be cool enough to have a Rihanna pad, ever. The one fun thing that does happen every once in a while is I get a bill of hers," she bragged, then said she once opened an $18 bill for Rihanna from Bugatti. When host DeGeneres pointed out that it's illegal to open anyone else's mail, a flustered Teigen stammered, "But it's my house now. Can you not? Are we going to edit this? This is why I can't run for president." Well, yeah, that and a few other things.

She's insecure

Considering she was on the cover of the Sports Illustrated Swimsuit Edition and boasts about her romantic life constantly, you'd think Teigen would be secure and confident in her body and her relationship—at least enough to be around other attractive women without it being an issue. Think again. She told the New York Post that she imposes a household rule: "No hot nannies, drivers, or maids. It's an ongoing joke in my house...the rule is no hot nannies. I trust John, but you never know with these men...These days, it doesn't really matter what you look like—sometimes cabin fever just strikes and men do the do."

Her seemingly pointless hatred toward other celebrities

Abraham, Wallis, and Mowry aren't the only ones who've been targeted by Teigen. At the 2015 Billboard Music Awards, Teigen was accused of making a stink face at "Fancy" singer Iggy Azalea, who was actually there because she was nominated for a trophy, not because she was dating someone who was. Teigen denied that particular diss, tweeting (via The Huffington Post), "people. be. bored." In 2011, Teigen lashed out at Avril Lavigne, tweeting (via E! News), "If u told me I could have 1 kid, but it would be exactly like avril, I would choose to have a barren, sterile existence that ends when I die." Why would someone write such a thing? Teigen said she was turned off by an interview with the Canadian pop star that she watched on TV. Here's hoping Teigen's daughter, Luna, doesn't start rocking ties and singing "Sk8er Boi" anytime soon.

Her FABlife feud

Teigen reportedly feuded majorly with FABlife co-host and creator Tyra Banks, but for someone as outspoken as Teigen, she was uncharacteristically quiet about it. A source told Page Six Teigen and the legendary supermodel-turned-mogul beefed over Teigen's lack of perceived professionalism and about sharing the spotlight. "You never put two supermodels on the same show together, especially when one's more than 10 years younger than the other," the insider said. "They are so different. Tyra thinks about everything. She thinks about what to say, down to when to move her arm. Chrissy is from the new school, where she says whatever she wants."

Page Six dubbed the show a "ratings disaster," and a source claimed Teigen and Banks began "spending an inordinate amount of time commiserating about the misdirection of the show...even the crew is taking notice...morale is low." Banks quit the series before the first season finished, and the show was cancelled before a second could begin.

She craves the spotlight, but can't handle it

Teigen never turns down a photo op, but when she posed with Legend on the red carpet at the Grammys in 2015, it was a bit much for her. In between smiles for photos, she reportedly flipped out and cursed at photographers. It wasn't the last time. She did the same thing at the 2015 Billboard Music Awards that May, which is weird, because she makes a living getting her picture taken.

She slept through the Oscars

Maybe Teigen's signature snarkiness is just a side-effect of needing a nap. At the beginning of the night, her red carpet snuggles with Legend seemed adorable, but the first-time mom found herself in the twitterverse hot seat after photos and video emerged of her, um, resting her eyes, on his shoulder during some major moments of the 2017 Academy Awards, including Casey Affleck's acceptance speech for best actor and Emma Stone's thank you's for best actress. As the meme machine got to work, Teigen took the heat in stride, tweeting this the next morning: "just woke up what happened."
