John Stamos Is Engaged To Caitlin McHugh

Love is in the air for John Stamos, who is officially saying goodbye to the single life.

According to Entertainment Tonight, the Fuller House star proposed to his actress-writer girlfriend, Caitlin McHugh, at Disneyland on Sunday, Oct. 22, 2017. The 54-year-old actor put together a short video montage of Disney and Pixar's most romantic moments. It concluded with The Little Mermaid's Sebastian saying, "Just ask the girl," before Stamos finally popped the question. Afterwards, the cute pair celebrated with friends and family at the restaurant 21 Royal.

The ER actor later took to Instagram to announce the couple's engagement, and he kept the Disney theme going. "I asked...she said yes!" Stamos captioned a sweet sketch of the two standing in front of Sleeping Beauty Castle, complete with fireworks. "And we lived happily ever after," he continued, adding an engagement ring emoji.

According to People, fans' reactions to the exciting news have ranged from genuinely happy to jokingly devastated—often at the same time. "No, you're supposed to marry me," wrote one fan, while another quipped, "I have just heard the heartbreaking news...John Stamos is engaged. Please respect my privacy during this difficult time."

As ET reported, Stamos and McHugh, who attended Grandfathered costar Josh Peck's wedding together in June 2017, started dating in early 2016. The Scream Queens actor was previously in a relationship with model-actress Rebecca Romijn. They divorced in 2005 after seven years of marriage.

This very public engagement announcement is no small thing, as the two are notoriously private about their nearly two-year relationship. "We like to keep our lives private because we've seen what relationships in the public eye can be like and we just like our privacy," McHugh, 31, explained to ET in January 2017. "We don't want the commentary from the masses about what our relationship is or should be. We're very happy together and we hope to be so for a long time."

Congratulations to the happy couple!
