Selena Gomez Accepts Billboard's Woman Of The Year Award From BFF Francia Raisa

The "Kill Em With Kindness" singer just received a major honor—and her best friend was right there with her as she took the stage to deliver an acceptance speech.

On Thursday, Nov. 30, 2017, Selena Gomez took the stage at Billboard's annual Women in Music Dinner and Awards Gala, after actress Elle Fanning and Gomez's BFF Francia Raisa presented her with the Woman of the Year award. But Gomez, who's released a string of hits in the past year, revealed that she shouldn't be the only one accepting credit for her accomplishments, as she couldn't have succeeded without the support and sacrifice from Raisa.

"To be honest, I think Francia should be getting this award because she saved my life," the 25-year-old said, fighting back in tears. Gomez is, of course, referring to the kidney Raisa gave her over the summer of 2017, which saved the singer from a life or death situation.

"I would like to thank my amazing team and family because they stuck with me through some really hard times," Gomez, who suffers from lupus, continued. "I got to do a lot this year even though I had a couple of other things to do."

Before Gomez made her acceptance speech, Raisa introduced her friend, filling in the crowd on some details about their friendship. "When we first met, we bonded immediately. Way back when I was on Secret Life of the American Teenager, and Selena was on Wizards of Waverly Place and only had 91 million Instagram followers. Yeah, not that famous," she quipped.

"She came up to me and introduced herself to me and said she was a huge fan. And I remember feeling blown away by the magnitude of her kindness and generosity and also thinking she was a bad liar," Raisa joked, earning a head shake from Gomez. "We quickly became family. We've shared every high, every low, every success, and failure together."

"She is my biggest champion and my best cheerleader, and I hers," she continued. I mean we are so close we literally are the same kidney type, which, interestingly enough, came in handy recently."
