What All Of Donald Trump's Exes Have Said About Him

Blunt, brazen, and highly controversial, former president Donald Trump has a reputation that precedes him. From his polarizing political stance to his occasionally inappropriate comments about his daughter, Ivanka Trump, with Donald, there's no telling where the next drama will come from. But even more controversial than his one-term presidency, are his occasional sexist comments. In 1992, New York Magazine famously quoted him as telling the architect, Philip Johnson, during a conversation about women, "You have to treat 'em like s***." Still, despite his many disparaging comments, the former president has a long list of romantic relationships attached to his name.

Between 1977 and 1992, Donald was married to Czech-American model, Ivana Trump with whom he welcomed his oldest kids, Ivanka, Donald Jr., and Eric. The real estate mogul's second attempt at marriage came in 1993 when he tied the knot to actor Marla Maples. Six years later, the couple went their separate ways. His third marriage, the longest-lasting so far, started in 2005 when he married Slovenian-American model, Melania Trump.

Unsurprisingly, since the end of their respective marriages to Donald, Ivana and Maples have on numerous occasions opened up about the relationship they had with the former president. And even though Melania told ABC News in 2018 that she loves her husband despite the numerous cheating allegations, several of Donald's women have proved they have no problem sharing what they think about the real estate mogul — both the good and the bad.

For a serial entrepreneur with political aspirations, something definitely had to give — for Donald Trump, it was family time. In her 2017 memoir, "Raising Trump," Ivana described Donald as somewhat absent in the lives of their children, Ivana, Donald Trump Jr, and Eric Trump. "I believe the credit for raising such great kids belongs to me," she wrote, per an excerpt published by Time. "I was in charge of raising our children before our divorce, and I had sole custody of them after the split." The former model also revealed that when it came to important decisions about the children, such as their allowance, where they went to school, and what activities they did for fun, amongst many other things, she called the shots.  "When each one finished college, I said to my ex-husband, 'Here is the finished product. Now it's your turn," Ivana added.

Still, the mother of three insists that her ex-husband was not a terrible father. "Donald might not have been the greatest husband to me, but he was a good father to the kids. Obviously, they adore him and are fiercely loyal to him. If he were a horrible dad, that would not be the case," she explained. Unsurprisingly, the former president also prides himself in the great bond he shares with his kids given his 2004 comments in an interview. "You've probably figured out my children really like me — love me — a lot," he told New York Magazine.  

Marla Maples might have had several positive things to say about Donald Trump but the former actress may have also claimed some not-so-great qualities about her ex-husband and their short-lived union. "I think you always hope in a marriage that you can bring the best out in each other," Maples told Access Hollywood in 2016. "But after many years, we realized we weren't." In addition, Maples previously revealed that despite what seemed like a great love story, marrying her ex-husband was a mistake. In 1999, the same year the couple divorced, she told The Telegraph (via New York Post), "Donald was never the man I wanted to marry. He and his world were alien to me. I'm so happy to be away from Donald, and I'm just trying to move as far away as I can." 

In the same interview, Maples also accused Trump of being utterly ego-driven, and of having obsessively pursued her for years before they got together. "I couldn't get away ... and, foolishly, I listened to some of his promises." The former actor added that her marriage to him felt built on a foundation of lies. She thought he would change his ways, but realized he was incapable. On the topic of Trump's presidential ambitions, she proclaimed, "I will feel it is my duty to tell the American people what he is really like. But I can't imagine that they would really elect him, would they?" A spokesperson for Maples suggested her comments were taken out of context.

Donald Trump clearly has a type! Back in the '90s, rumors of a relationship between him and the New Zealand model, Kylie Bax, abounded with the pair often spotted together at parties, per Yahoo! Sports. However, there has never been confirmation of a relationship from either Bax or Trump. Regardless of whether they dated or not, the model has maintained a friendship with Trump through the years, so much so she continues to support him despite his many controversies.

Ahead of the United States 2016 presidential election, Trump was faced with a major scandal after Summer Zervos, a "Celebrity Apprentice" alum, and many other women accused him of sexual assault. Shortly after the scandal broke, Bax came out to defend the then-presidential candidate, while also questioning the authenticity of the claims. "When you are trying [to] aim for something as important as presidency every worm or negative thing is going to come out of your closet. Nobody is squeaky clean," Bax said, per NZ Herald. And as for what she thought of his presidential aspiration, Bax simply couldn't have been more supportive of her friend. "It may be scary for people to think of him as being the President, but I think he will do an outstanding job," she told Fairfax Media (via NZ Herald).
