The Truth About John Krasinski And Jenna Fischer's Relationship

Rejoice, The Office fans! Even though John Krasinski and Jenna Fischer — who played beloved couple Jim Halpert and Pam Beesly on the comedy series — are not together in real life, the two seem to have an unbreakable bond. So much so, the two frequently rave about one another in interviews.

In the TV series, Jim and Pam started off as friends. They first kissed after Jim told Pam he was in love with her in Season 2, but she was engaged to someone else. Eventually, they got together in Season 3 after Jim asked her on a date, and from there, fans quickly became obsessed with Jim and Pam's sweet relationship.

Krasinski and Fischer are both married to other people — Emily Blunt and Lee Kirk, respectively — but they will always have a soft spot for one another. "It's a really complicated thing. He was like a type of spouse that I had for a long time," Fischer said on an episode of Watch What Happens Live With Andy Cohen (per the Los Angeles Times) in 2016. "He was my partner, and we will always be close because of it."

So, where do Fischer and Krasinski stand today? Let's take a look.

John Krasinski and Jenna Fischer had 'real chemistry'

Jenna Fischer admitted on Watch What Happens Live With Andy Cohen (per the Los Angeles Times) in 2016 that she and John Krasinski "have real chemistry." She added, "There's like a real part of me that is Pam and a real part of him that's Jim. And those parts of us were genuinely in love with one another."

However, Fischer clarified her comments, since she didn't want to give fans false hope that they were romantically involved off-screen. "In real life, we aren't totally Pam and totally Jim. So, in real life, we're not like the perfect match," she said on the show.

Afterward, Krasinski told The Daily Beast that Fischer was "wildly misquoted," and her remarks were "taken out of context," but he appreciated the sweet sentiment, nevertheless. "I'm sure she was trying to say something nice about how genuine the acting relationship was, of bringing a relationship that became that popular onscreen — and I think we both feel it's such an honor to be a part of that relationship."

Sorry, Pam and Jim shippers! Even though Krasinski and Fischer are not together romantically, they clearly have nothing but love for one another.

John Krasinski pranked Jenna Fischer on set

Just like John Krasinski's The Office character Jim Halpert, the actor played a prank on his co-star Jenna Fischer during their time on set. "It was at Schrute Farms and you and I had this scene where we had to drive up to the farmhouse several times, and we're doing it and I am getting increasingly more hot," Fischer told Krasinski on an episode of her podcast, Office Ladies, in May 2020, per Vulture

"I'm like warm, I'm sweating," Fischer continued. "I'm like, 'Oh my god, it's so hot,' and we had to turn off the AC for sound and you're like, 'Yeah, I don't know, I'm okay. But you're hot, huh?' This went on for like 15 minutes, and all of a sudden you start snickering and you had turned on my seat warmer all the way to the hottest setting."

Even though Krasinski admitted he is "terrible at pranks," he managed to pull this one off later in the season. However, Krasinski revealed he actually stole the joke from a very famous actor: George Clooney. "When we were doing Leatherheads, he did that to me, so that's how unoriginal I am. I was like, 'I'm gonna take George Clooney's bit and do it to Jenna,' and I thought that would make me cool," he explained. "So basically you got Clooney'd is what you got. "

John Krasinski and Jenna Fischer's audition tape was not awkward

It's not always easy to audition in Hollywood, let alone screen test with a complete stranger. Luckily, in John Krasinski and Jenna Fischer's case, when the two auditioned together for The Office, it went off without a hitch. "What if you walked into a room and music started playing and you and another person just started dancing in unison even though you'd never met? That's what it was like auditioning with you," Fischer said on her podcast, Office Ladies, in May 2020, per Vulture. Krasinski added, "I felt like I could see the future."

After Fischer got a call that she nabbed the part as Pam Beesly, she asked, "Did John Krasinski get the role of Jim?" Meanwhile, Krasinski "jumped on a couch" after hearing the good news he would be playing Jim Halpert, and immediately asked, "Did Jenna Fischer get the part of Pam?"

Clearly, Krasinski knew there was something special between him and Fischer. "I thought if you were on it, I was gonna be on one of the best things I was ever gonna do in my life," he gushed. Well, he certainly wasn't wrong.

John Krasinski wrote 'the sweetest note' to Jenna Fischer before they wrapped 'The Office'

During Season 2 of The Office, Jim Halpert (John Krasinski) wrote a note to Pam Beesly (Jenna Fischer) before they date, but he stole the note back from a teapot, and since then, fans have been dying to know what the paper said. "Because, as you know, in this episode, Pam does not read it, it is not revealed," Fischer explained on her Office Ladies podcast in February 2020, per People. "Then, in Season 9, there's a scene where Jim has the documentary film crew put together footage of their romance, and he shows it to Pam, and Pam sees that there was a note that Jim steals back, and then he hands it to her, and she reads it."

Greg Daniels, one of the writers on The Office, actually suggested that Krasinski "write a personal message from himself to me just saying what our time together on The Office meant to him," Fischer divulged. "So, I'm on camera, and I open up this note that John's written me, and I just start crying. I just start bawling."

So, what's in the note? Unfortunately, Fischer won't spill the beans — all she will say is that "it was the sweetest note," and "it was perfect." If we can't have Jim and Pam together in real life, we'll have to settle for Krasinski and Fischer's awesome friendship.
