Alec Baldwin has never shied away from controversy, from calling his then-11-year-old daughter a "pig" to fatally shooting cinematographer Halyna Hutchins on a film set and refusing to take responsibility. Baldwin is now serving up controversy in an all-new way involving a once-celebrated film director — keyword being "once."
On June 26, 2022, Baldwin took to Instagram to announce that he plans to interview Woody Allen. "Tuesday the 28th 10:30 EST I'm gonna be doing an Instagram Live with Woody Allen who I love. Instagram, I'm with Woody," Baldwin wrote, while also showcasing Allen's new book "Zero Gravity"; things only got messier from there.
"Let me preface this by stating that I have ZERO INTEREST in anyone's judgments and sanctimonious posts here," Baldwin continued. "I am OBVIOUSLY someone who has my own set of beliefs and COULD NOT CARE LESS about anyone else's speculation. If you believe that a trial should be conducted by way of an HBO documentary, that's your issue."
In 1992, Allen's adopted daughter, Dylan Farrow, alleged that he had sexually abused her; despite support from some who were willing to overlook this, Allen's reputation was tarnished. Meanwhile, fans on Baldwin's page were not willing to overlook this, with one commenting, "I've supported u 100% thru everything. But woody Allen? Bye."
