AMERICAN IDOL WINNER CALEB JOHNSON COMPLETELY LASHES OUT AT THE SHOW

Caleb Johnson won Season 13 of "American Idol" in 2014, and while he was lucky to release a debut album, "Testify," immediately after his victory, he left his record label just a year later, citing a lack of support. Now, Johnson is addressing his tough entry into the music business — and blames some of it on a song that "American Idol" picked for him.
Johnson spoke to Insider about "As Long as You Love Me," his "Idol" victory song and first single following his win: "I knew [...] if you won you had to sing the song, and the song was just utter crap. Like it was just the worst song ever." He was also supposed to use the song during his post-season tour, but it was a "nightmare to perform" and he dropped it.
Notably, "As Long as You Love Me" was the first "American Idol" winner's single to fail to chart on the Billboard Hot 100. Season 13 runner-up Jena Irene Asciutto has expressed similar sentiments to Johnson, saying, "All anyone cares about is this 'American Idol' title [...] but it's a reality-TV show [...] it's also not the music industry, which is a complete fact."
