Anna Faris Left Mom And We Now Know Why

Celebrity - News

By TRACEY JOHNSON
The last time fans saw Anna Faris as Christy on “Mom” was the episode "Big Sad Eyes and a Wrinkled Hot Dog” — the final episode taped before COVID-19 shutdowns. Faris stated that while she was leaving the show to “pursue new opportunities,” she would continue to watch the show and cheer for its success.
Kristen Johnston, who plays Tammy, tried to be positive about Faris' departure, saying "It doesn't feel that different. I mean, obviously, I miss Anna, but it's still just ‘Mom.’” Jaime Pressly, who plays Jill, thought that Christy's exit story was uplifting because "it's really important to [showrunner Gemma Baker] to portray a character that got sober and stayed sober.”
CBS decided to cancel the hit TV show after one season without Faris. The executive producers released a statement about “Mom” coming to an end, stating, “We are forever grateful to our brilliant cast and guest stars, wonderful writers, and amazing crew for going on this journey with us."
Why Faris left "Mom" is still relatively unclear, as are the "new opportunities" she mentioned in her statement, as her next major project hasn't been announced. Perhaps she'll focus on her celebrity podcast "Unqualified," which she's been hosting since 2015.
