BARACK OBAMA SHARES EMOTIONAL TRIBUTE AFTER THE QUEEN'S DEATH
By CAITLIN WISSER
According to the White House Historical Association, Queen Elizabeth II first came to the United States as a Princess in 1951 and has since “met more U.S. Presidents than other heads of state.” Following her passing on September 8, 2022, many former Presidents have expressed their condolences, with Barack and Michelle Obama crafting a sweet and caring response.
The Obamas reflected on how the Queen aided them when they visited her during their first term. "She welcomed us to the world stage with open arms and extraordinary generosity,” they said. “Time and again, we were struck by her warmth, the way she put people at ease, and how she brought her considerable humor and charm to moments of great pomp and circumstance."
The Obamas also detailed the Queen’s 70-year reign and expressed their condolences to the people of the United Kingdom and her family, saying they were "awed by her legacy of tireless, dignified public service." She most certainly will be missed by the Obamas and all those who knew her.
