DOJA CAT SHARES SOME SCARY HEALTH NEWS
By JACOB PITTS
Even though she's announced her potential retirement, Doja Cat's career isn't showing signs of slowing down. The pop-rap star is known for her quirky and dynamic music, memetic Internet presence, and generally keeping things light-hearted, but she's also opened up about a health scare she had recently.
Shortly before her appearance at the 2022 Billboard Music Awards, Doja Cat was taking antibiotics for a tonsil infection. However, after vaping throughout the day, the star got a growth on her tonsil and needed surgery to remove it, which she graphically described online in her typical honest fashion.
Fans quickly called out vaping for its possible impact on the star's health, and Doja confirmed that she'd be quitting the habit. "Throwing [vapes] away just instills panic," she tweeted. "I'm addicted but I'm not weak. I was literally staring at my vape today that normally I'd hit a thousand times a day and hit it two times instead."
At the BBMAS, when it was announced that Doja won the award for best R&B album, she took a quick puff of her vape before going onstage, and also hit her pen on a TikTok Live last December, receiving a warning from the app for consuming substances on the platform. Now, she says, "I'ma try to go cold turkey".
