ELISABETH MOSS CAUSES A STIR WITH HER COMMENTS ABOUT SCIENTOLOGY
By SUTTON REEKES
Elisabeth Moss of "The Handmaid’s Tale" and "Mad Me" has finally opened up about being a second-generation Scientologist. The religion is undoubtedly controversial, with corruption, mistreatment of members, and other shady behavior alleged by other celebs such as Leah Remini.
Speaking up to The New Yorker, Moss explained that she doesn’t want audiences "distracted" from her performances: "I want them to be seeing the character," she said, rather than focusing on her personal beliefs. She also told people to keep an open mind about Scientology, describing the Church as "welcoming."
Twitter users sounded off, with one writing, "most cults are very welcoming." Another user said, "girl... leah remini didn't make an entire series about y'all for NOTHING," while a third user seemed to defend Moss, but roasted all religions: "i wonder if the people criticizing her are part of a religion themselves, as if they were any better lmao."
