ELLEN DEGENERES FACES MAJOR SNUB AHEAD OF HER TALK SHOW ENDING
By STEPHANIE SALA
To say that Ellen DeGeneres is having a tough time would be an understatement. From "The Ellen DeGeneres Show" ending to accusations of unkind behavior from former employees and guests, the talk show host's reputation is far from what it once was — and now her show is getting one last kick as it heads out the door.
On May 5, 2022, the Daytime Emmy Awards released their list of nominees for its 49th annual show. "The Ellen DeGeneres Show" has been up for the Outstanding Entertainment Talk Show category every single year since its first season in 2003, totaling 18 nominations. You can guess where this is going.
Ellen and her show have been completely omitted from the 2022 Daytime Emmy nominations. DeGeneres herself has four Daytime Emmys for Outstanding Talk Show Host, but now
relative newcomers like "The Drew Barrymore Show," "Hot Ones," and "The Kelly Clarkson Show" have been nominated in her place.
At least Ellen seems to be moving on to better things, as her wife, Portia de Rossi, has expressed support for anything her partner wants to do post-talk show. "I just feel like more than ever, we need love and light and laughter," de Rossi reminisced on her wife's show. "So I hope that you continue to do something like that."
