KENEDI ANDERSON RETURNS TO SOCIAL MEDIA AFTER AMERICAN IDOL EXIT
By RENÉE CAMUS
"American Idol" viewers are still stunned by the departure of frontrunner Kenedi Anderson. 17-year-old Anderson became a judge- and fan-favorite before announcing her leave in an April 11 Instagram post, citing "personal reasons" and thanking "Idol's" cast, crew, contestants, and fans.
Kenedi returned to social media on April 13 when she posted a now-deleted TikTok of herself singing a song she wrote. "I need to find, need to find something better than what I had, and with no strings attached," she sang. "Don't I deserve that? Something with no strings attached."
Keedi's fans — the "Kenicats," as Katy Perry coined them — think the song is about "American Idol" and why the 17-year-old star left the competition. One fan wrote to Kenedi, "Rumor has it you got a record deal....? Congrats if so." Could that be the "something better" she sang about?
While Kenedi hasn't revealed the full reason why she left "Idol," she has voiced her appreciation for her fan base: "I love my Kenicats," the singing phenom captioned a TikTok video on April 14. Still, Kenicats likely won't know if Kenedi got a record deal or something similar for a while.
