QUEEN ELIZABETH'S JUBILEE CELEBRATIONS JUST HIT A SNAG
By KATHLEEN WALSH
Queen Elizabeth's Platinum Jubilee is being celebrated over several days, and while the queen has attended the first couple of events, she's been dealing with swirling rumors about her absence from several royal events prior to the Jubilee. Now, the monarch is officially sitting out on one part of her historic celebration.
"The Queen greatly enjoyed today's Birthday Parade and Flypast but did experience some discomfort," a June 2, 2022 statement from Buckingham Palace reads. "Taking into account the journey and activity required to participate in tomorrow's National Service of Thanksgiving at St. Paul's Cathedral, Her Majesty with great reluctance has concluded that she will not attend."
This year, the queen also missed the Opening of Parliament and Easter Services for the first time in over 50 years. Some royal fans may be disappointed or concerned, but the monarch is 96 years old and can't possibly stand around in the sun for every single long and arduous ceremony involved in her Jubilee.
