Ridiculously Expensive Things Donald Trump Has Owned
By CASSIE DAIGLE
Gold-Detailed Helicopter
Donald Trump had a black and red Sikorsky S-76 VIP helicopter in 2010. They are worth $5 to $7 million, but Trump put in around $750,000 in renovations.
Trump’s ride included 24-karat gold-plated seat belts and handles. Eric Roth, the one who renovated the craft, said, “If it’s got the Trump name, [...] it’s got to be the best.”
Former Passenger Plane
Trump bought a Boeing 757 plane in 2010 for $100 million and redesigned it to include a bedroom and the same gold furnishings
as his Sikorsky S-76 VIP.
Its design includes Italian leather seats emblazoned with the Trump Family crest, two guest rooms, dining and conference areas, and an entertainment system.
Mar-a-Lago
Trump acquired Mar-a-Lago for $5 million in 1985 after the death of the previous owner, Marjorie Merriweather Post. The property is estimated to be $350 million today.
He transformed the property into an elite club with a $200,000 membership fee. The estate grants access to tennis courts, golf courses, ballrooms, boutiques, pools, and spas.
Sixteen Golf Courses
The former president’s favorite pastime is playing golf. Since he plays often, he bought 12 golf properties in the United States and four more internationally.
Trump told Reuters that he spent less than $1 billion on his golf portfolio. As of 2015, his golf properties are estimated to be worth $500 million to over $675 million.
Kingly Penthouse
Inspired by Louis XIV, Trump’s New York City penthouse, in Trump Tower, is valued at around $100 million. It is three stories and overlooks Central Park.
The Angelo Donghia-designed apartment has marble columns, gold furnishings, sprawling chandeliers, a diamond and gold entrance door, and Greek myths painted on the ceiling.
