RUMORS ARE SWIRLING ABOUT TYRA BANKS' FUTURE ON DANCING WITH THE STARS
By DM
After almost 17 years on network TV, "Dancing With the Stars" is moving to Disney+, and some fans have found a scapegoat for the switch: host Tyra Banks. "I refuse to buy a subscription to watch how Tyra Banks keeps destroying the show ... The show is a joke since [original hosts] Tom and Erin left," one user tweeted.
With social media in uproar about the change, fans are wondering if Banks will continue her run. The supermodel took over hosting duties in 2020 after ABC fired Tom Bergeron and Erin Andrews, and professional dancer Artem Chigvinstev has addressed speculation about Banks's "DWTS" fate.
"[...] the only information we [have is we're] going to be on a different platform," Chigvinstev told Us Weekly. "But as far as like, who's going to be part of it [...] I'm not sure." Chigvinstev said that dancers are often the last members of "DWTS" to be notified of changes, so while he tried his best to address the rumors, we still don't know much.
Unfortunately for "DWTS," fans may follow through with their promise to boycott Season 30, which is bad news for the show's already-declining viewership. While the show's producers have not stated whether the dip in viewership caused the move to a streaming service, some fans continue to blame Banks for the change.
