Scandalous Details About John Mayer

Actress Objectification
John Mayer briefly dated Jennifer Love Hewitt in 2002, but he made a joke at The Laugh Factory about how the two never made it to the bedroom.
The quip was criticized for objectifying the actress. Mayer has since apologized for his misjudged sense of humor and that he was actually making fun of himself.
Next Target
Mayer then spoke a little too candidly about his ex, Jessica Simpson, saying, “That girl is like crack cocaine to me. [...] It was like napalm, sexual napalm.”
He continued, “If you charged me $10,000 to f*** you, I would start selling all my s*** just to keep f***ing you.” Simpson was left mortified by his comments.
Nine-Time Breakup
Simpson revealed in her autobiography, “Open Book,” that Mayer broke up with her nine times via email, turning to drinking to deal with the anxiety.
Mayer played with her emotions by breaking up and getting back together. She said, “He would tell me that my true self is so much greater than the person I was settling on being.”
He Dumped Her
Mayer ended up dating Jennifer Aniston in 2008, but he went out of his way to make it clear that he was the one to dump her and not the other way around.
The couple got back together before splitting in 2009. Mayer wanted everyone to know that he called things off because another woman helped him see that Aniston wasn’t the one.
Another Insult
Talking publicly about his breakup with Aniston wasn’t enough since he outed her as a technological Luddite. They had varying attitudes toward the online world.
In a patronizing manner, Mayer said, “If Jennifer Aniston knows how to use BitTorrent, I’ll eat my [...] shoe.” Still, Aniston harbors no ill feelings toward her ex.
