Selma Blair of "Cruel Intentions" and "Hellboy" has always been open about hardships in her life, such as multiple sclerosis, which she made a documentary about in order to raise awareness for the disease. Now, the actor is being open about another issue that has weighed on her since she was a child.
Blair has written about alcohol addiction, mental health issues, and more in her memoir "Mean Baby." The star told People, "I don't know if I would've survived childhood without alcoholism," describing getting drunk as a "comfort," "coping mechanism," and "revelation" that she began using when she was 7 years old.
In her book, the star also discusses her sexual assault and many other struggles. Luckily, Blair has friends to support her now, including her "Cruel Intentions" co-star Sarah Michelle Gellar; Blair told Entertainment Weekly in 2019, "Oh my gosh, Sarah's my everything. I can't tell you how much I love this woman."
