Shia LaBeouf's career has often been overshadowed by controversy; he's had quite a few run-ins with the law, including two arrests for disorderly conduct. Most infamously, LaBeouf's ex-girlfriend FKA Twigs sued him for physical, sexual, and emotional abuse in 2020 — and now her case is coming together.
FKA Twigs finally has a court date: April 17, 2023, as reported by Rolling Stone. Twigs has accused LaBeouf of threatening to crash a car they were riding in and of physically assaulting her when she got out at a gas station, among other abusive behaviors and incidents throughout their 2018-2019 relationship.
Twigs also said that LaBeouf purposefully gave her a sexually transmitted disease, and accused him of sexual battery. "It may be surprising to you to learn that i was in an emotionally and physically abusive relationship," Twigs, real name Tahliah Barnett, wrote on Twitter. "It was hard for me to process too, during and after."
LaBeouf fell back into his alcohol addiction following the suit, and told NYT in an email, "I have been abusive to myself and everyone around me for years." Still, he filed court documents denying Twigs's allegations "because none of the acts alleged were based on sex and/or the conduct was not sexual."
