ERIC CHURch

In 2019, Eric Church fans got a surprise when he performed a rendition of “Are You Sure Hank Done It This Way?” by Waylon Jennings. Church included the line, "I know Garth didn't do it this way," referencing Brooks’ lip-syncing at the 2017 Country Music Awards.

Anderson East

Garth Brooks blamed the lip-syncing on being sick and playing 12 shows in 10 days, but that wasn’t enough for the normally mild-mannered Anderson East. He said that while he doesn’t usually speak up, lip-syncing “truly offends” him.

Miranda Lambert

Miranda Lambert didn’t get nominated for Entertainer of the Year at the 2017 CMAs, but she still attended the show. After seeing Brooks’ aforementioned mimed performance of “Ask Me How I Know,” she said “if you can’t sing, then don’t.”

BRISTOL PALIN

Sarah Palin’s daughter, Bristol, was one of the more high profile names to speak out about Brooks refusing to perform at Donald Trump’s inauguration. She described a bunch of celebrities as "sissies" for not wanting to welcome the new President into the White House.

Waylon Jennings

Waylon Jennings once described Brooks as “the most insincere person I've ever seen,” much to the confusion of the latter, who never met him. When asked about this later, Brooks said, “I just think he was addressing the different sound in country music and the changing of the guard."
