The Crime That Sent Jared Kushner's Father To Prison

Jared Kushner’s father-in-law, Donald Trump, may be his most infamous parental figure, but Kushner has a much more personal family drama of his own. Kushner’s father served two years behind bars for various crimes, and the details only make things messier.

In 2005, Charles Kushner was sentenced to prison due to multiple accounts of “tax evasion, witness tampering, and illegal campaign donations.” However, the real bomb dropped while Charles was still under investigation.

Charles Kushner found out that his sister’s husband was cooperating with authorities behind his back. In response, Kushner hired a sex worker and taped her encounter with his brother-in-law, then Kushner sent the tape to his sister to blackmail them into being silent.

US attorney Chris Christie called Kushner’s case one of the most “loathsome, disgusting crimes" he ever dealt with. How, then, was Jared Kushner’s life affected by his father’s actions against his own family?

Jared reacted with anger, but not at his father; rather, he was “seething” over Chris Christie’s involvement in Charles’ imprisonment. As for Charles, he was released from prison in 2006, and — naturally — received a full pardon from then-president Donald Trump in 2020.
