THE LIE SADIE SINK TOLD TO GET HER ROLE ON STRANGER THINGS
By TREVA BOWDOIN
Sometimes, young actors who really want to make their Hollywood dreams come true will tell little fibs to get the roles that they want. Sadie Sink, who plays Max Mayfield on "Stranger Things," has admitted that she lied about her real-life expertise in a certain interest of Max's — and it's not video games.
Max often cruises around on a skateboard, and during her audition, Sink said she had experience on wheels… but she was rustier than she let on. "They asked me, 'Oh, do you have any rollerblading experience?'" she recalled to Coveteur. "I was like, 'Uhh sure I do' [...] In reality, I probably haven't skated for a year."
There was actually a pair of rollerblades in the room during Sink's audition, but luckily, she wasn't asked to demonstrate. However, she had to master skateboarding in just two months, and told the Hollywood Reporter, "It was really hard in the beginning. It's a scary feeling when you have no control over the board."
Sink admitted that falls were a frequent occurrence at first, but "Now, skateboarding is a hobby of mine. I'll skateboard now and then from time to time." Interestingly, Sink performed some of her own stunts on the movie "Fear Street," so whether she comes to a role with experience or not, she certainly brings the courage.
