Singer Avril Lavigne and reality TV star Brody Jenner were once a hot item in Hollywood, going on double date nights with Kim K, getting matching tattoos, and supporting each others’ work. What, then, caused the couple to abruptly split up in 2012?

Allegedly, Brody was done feeling like “a loser” compared to his girlfriend, as Avril’s music career was thriving while Brody hadn’t appeared on TV in two years. A source says “he was tired of always being her plus-one, and always going on tour with her.”

Different levels of success weren't the only reason the couple broke up, as another source claims that Avril wanted to settle down, but Brody wasn’t ready. Apparently, Brody himself said “I need to stay in L.A. and get back into TV[...] Either scripted or reality.”

After the split, Brody married lifestyle influencer Kaitlynn Carter in 2018, and Avril wed Nickelback singer Chad Kroeger in 2013, but neither of their new marriages lasted. Hopefully the two of them will eventually find their true “happy endings.”
