The Tragic Death Of Prince William's Godfather, Constantine II

King Constantine II — who was deposed as the last king of Greece in 1973 — was King Charles III’s second cousin and godfather to Prince William. While the former king's once lavish life was long behind him, his connections to the British royal family remained relevant to him before his death on January 10, 2023.
In his last several months of life, the former king was hospitalized several times for his heart and mobility problems. Although not officially announced, Greek media outlets have reported that Constantine died of a stroke.
While sentiments vary widely in support of the monarchy or against it on Twitter, users are also quick to note Constantine's pivotal role in Greek history. Constantine is survived by his wife the former Princess Anne-Marie of Denmark, as well as his five children and nine grandchildren.
