The Truth About Alec Baldwin And Tina Fey's Relationship
By DESIRÉE O and
ANNA PAPACHRISTOS
In a 2017 cover story for Vanity Fair, Alec Baldwin recounted meeting his "30 Rock" co-star Tina Fey, and said her beauty, intellect, and humor made him fall in love with her. They met when Baldwin hosted “SNL,” and following the dress rehearsal, Baldwin even asked if Fey was single. Here's more on their relationship.
Fey may not have fallen in love with Baldwin the way he did with her, but she told BBC’s Jonathan Ross that Baldwin is "brilliant," and she wrote the role of Jack Donaghy on “30 Rock” just for him. She was nervous to ask Baldwin to sign on, as he was usually a "dramatic leading man," but he said yes, and the rest is history.
In her memoir "Bossypants," Fey wrote, "Anything I learned about real acting I learned from watching Alec Baldwin." That's probably why, after 30 Rock wrapped, Fey approached Baldwin about reprising his character in a spinoff series, but even after lots of negotiation, Baldwin was ultimately replaced by Ted Danson.
Meanwhile, Alec Baldwin's impersonation of Donald Trump has become an iconic part of "Saturday Night Live's" 45-year legacy, but as it turns out, Fey is the one who recommended her friend join the show. It's clear that even though these two never got romantically involved, their relationship is no less close for it.
