THE TRUTH ABOUT ELIZABETH HOLMES' RELATIONSHIP WITH SUNNY BALWANI

Disgraced CEO Elizabeth Holmes is infamous for her million-dollar medical fraud, in which her company’s “revolutionary” blood testing devices were found to be a farce. The media is also fascinated with other players involved in Holmes’ scam, including her mysterious relationship with businessman Sunny Balwani.
Elizabeth Holmes started dating Sunny Balwani in 2004, shortly after she dropped out of Stanford and began developing her company, Theranos. Holes and Balwani moved in together in 2005, and though they kept their romantic relationship a complete secret, their ill-fated business relationship would soon begin.
In 2009, Holmes brought Balwani onto the Theranos team and eventually gave him the title of Chief Operations Office, even though Balwani has zero medical or engineering experience. Unfortunately for Balwani, Holmes dumped him the second she came under investigation by the FDA, FBI, and other organizations.
Holmes and Balwani have been charged with multiple counts of wire fraud and conspiracy to commit wire fraud. Balwani's attorney Jeffrey Coopersmith claims that Balwani never made any money off his alleged crimes, but instead “lost millions of dollars” — like a lot of things about Holmes’ situation, we may never know the truth.
