The following story contains discussion of a fatal plane crash.
As the spotlight shines on Travis Barker's romance with Kourtney Kardashian, fans are wondering what went wrong between the Blink-182 drummer and his ex-wife Shanna Moakler. The exes tied the knot in a gothic wedding ceremony in October 2004, one year after welcoming their son, Landon.
Things seemed good with the couple, who even filmed a reality show from 2005-2006 called "Meet the Barkers," but eventually Barker filed for divorce, alleging that Moakler cheated on him. The pair officially divorced on Feb. 11, 2008, but they faced a life-changing event that put their uncoupling on hold.
Just months after Barker and Moakler finalized their split, the rocker was involved in a plane crash that left four people dead on Sept. 19, 2008. Barker and his friend DJ AM were the only survivors, and Barker experienced second- and third-degree burns that landed him in the hospital for 11 weeks.
Barker and Moakler reconciled while he recovered from the accident, but things turned rocky for them again. Barker complained about not having enough time with his children, and the exes got into an altercation in 2014, but by 2016, Barker told People, "We're just being friends. Doing the best co-parenting is the most important thing."
