Tragic Details About Sophia Bush

Sophia Bush and 17 other women who worked on "One Tree Hill" signed a letter alleging that showrunner Mark Schwahn engaged in psychological and emotional abuse, including groping Bush and pressuring her into scenes requiring her to be in lingerie. She told Insider that she reclaimed her "One Tree Hill" trauma by maintaining friendships with her female co-stars.

When Bush was just 22, Sophia Bush married her "One Tree Hill" co-star Chad Michael Murray in 2005, and the couple split one year later. Bush confessed to Andy Cohen that the show's execs pressured her into the marriage, and later detailed on "Armchair Expert" how showrunners exploited the couple's divorce for ratings and drama, even running TV ads about it.
Her cousin was murdered
In 2011, a gunman went on a shooting spree outside a supermarket in Tucson, Arizona, killing six people, including Bush's 9-year-old cousin Christina-Taylor Green. Green's parents spoke of their anguish, and although Bush hadn't been able to meet her cousin, she was deeply affected by the loss, saying on "Chelsea Lately," "... you've gotta tell the people you love that you do."

Sophia Bush had a year-long relationship with Google engineer Dan Fredinburg that began in 2013, although the two remained close even after their split. Tragically, Fredinburg died in an avalanche while on an expedition to Mount Everest in 2015, and Bush was devastated by his death, writing on Instagram, "Today I find myself attempting to pick up the pieces of my heart [...] I'll likely never find them all."

In 2017, "Chicago P.D." star Jason Beghe apologized after an investigation was launched into his misconduct on set, and Sophia Bush slammed Beghe on Instagram for reducing his aggression to anger management issues. While on "Armchair Expert," Bush described her treatment on set as a "barrage of abusive behavior," which she had trouble escaping due to the pressure from higher-ups.
