What is Mitch McConnell's first wife Sherrill Redmon doing now?
By MANUELLA LIBARDI
Mitch McConnell, the longest-serving Senate party leader, married his ex-wife, Sherrill Redmon in 1968. The couple share three daughters — Eleanor, Claire, and Porter.
Redmon used to actively campaign for McConnell back in the late '70s when he was working with late Senator Marlow Cook to promote the Equal Rights Amendment.
Following their divorce in 1980, Redmon, a Ph.D. in American history, moved to Massachusetts, where she worked on the Voices of Feminism Oral History
Project with Gloria Steinem.
Redmon has been understandably reluctant to discuss her marriage with McConnell due to her strong disapproval of the principles upon which he has built
his reputation.
"I can only imagine how painful it must be to marry and have children with a democratic Jekyll and see him turn into a corrupt and authoritarian Hyde," Steinem told The New Yorker.
