As for their daughter Lola, Ripa picked the name from Barry Manilow’s 'Copacabana.' The couple’s youngest son, Joaquin, was named after the name initially picked for Michael.
Apparently, Lola told her mom that she wasn't allowed to post her prom pics on Instagram, and even barred Ripa from showing them to her "Live" audience.
However, Lola eventually started feeling some pity for her poor, proud mother, because she told Ripa that she could post them on Instagram if Lola could choose the captions.
Ripa wasn’t thrilled when Michael decided to go to New York University. “I didn't think the kids should live in the city where they grew up," she confessed.
Lola ultimately decided to go to NYU, too, whereas Joaquin got into the University of Michigan. However, none of the kids helped Ripa achieve her dream of visiting the West Coast.
Ripa later told Access how impressed she and Mark were with Michael. In fact, Michael also starred in the movie "Let's Get Physical," which his parents happened to be producers of.
In an episode of "Live with Kelly and Ryan," Ripa revealed that she refers to her sons using royal terms, "I call Michael 'the heir' and Joaquin 'the spare.'"
Luckily, Michael and Joaquin don't have to worry about a crown. Though, Michael worries a little bit that his "younger, more handsome" brother may outshine him in acting.
