Although John Travolta and Tom Cruise are both highly regarded actors and members of the Church of Scientology, the two aren’t the biggest fans of each other. For most people, similar religious views bring them together, but the opposite can be said about the two actors.

Travolta was one of the first prominent members of the Church, but when Cruise began touting his devotion to it, he allegedly overshadowed Travolta. Cruise even became friends with Scientology head honcho David Miscavige, which apparently made Travolta jealous.

In 2004, the Church honored Cruise with the Freedom Medal of Valor, with Miscavige calling Cruise “the best Scientologist he knew,” which apparently led to Travolta asking Miscavige why he wasn’t the one being honored. Aside from religion, it’s also said that Travolta was upset about not being invited to Cruise’s wedding to Katie Holmes.
