WHY KATE MIDDLETON ISN'T JOINING THE REST OF THE ROYAL FAMILY TO SEE THE QUEEN
By TRACEY JOHNSON
Kate Middleton and Queen Elizabeth II have always appeared close, often huddling together at events to share a laugh. However, even royal family members sometimes have to make sacrifices due to unforeseen circumstances, and when the Queen underwent medical supervision, her family rushed to her side, except for Kate.
Kensington Palace addressed Middleton's absence, explaining that the Duchess of Cambridge chose to remain in Windsor with her children, Prince George, Princess Charlotte, and Prince Louis, because September 8 marks their first full day back at school. It is Louis’ first-ever day at a school, other than nursery school.
E! News reports that Prince William, Prince Charles, and Camilla, Duchess of Cornwall, traveled to be with the queen. Prince Harry left Germany to join his grandmother in Balmoral Castle, while Princess Anne was already at Balmoral, and would be joined by Prince Andrew, Prince Edward, and Sophie, the Countess of Wessex.
News of the queen's health took the UK by surprise, even before Her Majesty's death. British Prime Minister Liz Truss tweeted, "The whole country will be deeply concerned by the news from Buckingham Palace this lunchtime. My thoughts – and the thoughts of people across our United Kingdom – are with Her Majesty The Queen and her family at this time."
