WHY PRINCESS EUGENIE WAS NOT HAPPY ABOUT MEGHAN MARKLE'S BABY NEWS
By PHIL ARCHBOLD
The Timing Upset Eugenie
Meghan Markle announced her pregnancy during Princess Eugenie’s wedding to Jack Brookbank, which was already soured by accusations that the wedding was a waste of taxpayers' money. RadarOnline says the news “tipped Eugenie over the edge” and she “felt furious at having been upstaged again by Harry and Meghan.”
Stealing her Thunder
A royal family insider said that Eugenie’s reaction to the baby news was understandable, and Harry and Meghan made an official announcement just a few days after the wedding. Some think that Meghan and Harry should have broken the news via the official announcement only, letting Eugenie have her moment.
A Sour Relationship
Markle’s pregnancy announcement fed into rumors that Eugenia and her sistere Beatric were “at war” with Markle; a source told New Idea that the sisters “don't think Meghan is good enough to be a royal.” Moreover, Eugenie wanted to marry Jack in 2017, but “had to wait for Harry to go first,” according to a source for Vanity Fair.
Her Mom Snubbed Markle
Moments after Kensington Palace announced Markle’s pregnancy, Eugenie’s mother Sarah Ferguson tweeted a picture of herself at her daughter's wedding, without a word about the pregnancy news. The UK press is convinced that this was a snub, and the day of the announcement was also Ferguson's birthday.
A Royal ‘Tweetstorm’
Ferguson's Twitter output shot upwards soon after Markle’s pregnancy announcement, with constant praise for her daughter Eugenie. “So proud of Eugenie and Jack,” Ferguson wrote alongside a snap of the newlyweds exiting St. George's Chapel at Windsor Castle, the same place where Harry and Meghan wed.
