WILL SMITH MAKES BOLD CLAIM ABOUT JADA IN CONTROVERSIAL APOLOGY VIDEO

Will Smith caused a serious media furor when he slapped Chris Rock at the 2022 Oscars, after Rock made a joke about Smith's wife Jada's bald head, a result of the disease alopecia. Speculation ran wild about whether or not Jada asked her husband to defend her during the ceremony, and now, Will is trying to clear up the rumors.
Over four months after "Slapgate," Will Smith has posted a video apology to YouTube, Instagram, and other sites, in which he answers the question, "After Jada rolled her eyes, did she tell you to do something?" Smith replied, "No! [...] It's like, you know, I made a choice on my own, from my own experiences, from my history with Chris."
Smith's "history" likely refers to Chris Rock's pre-2022 jokes about Jada, including one where he implied that she was not invited to the Oscars during a year where she and Will publicly boycotted the ceremony. Smith continued, "Jada had nothing to do with it. I'm sorry, babe," and apologized to his family for the pain his actions have caused.
Smith also revealed that he reached out to Rock to apologize one-on-one, but the comedian is not ready to speak with him yet. In April, Rock stated that he would not speak about the situation until he got paid, and generally seems to have moved on from the incident; only time will tell if Rock will revisit The Slap and speak out about it as Smith has.
