WILL SMITH'S FORMER CO-STAR TATYANA ALI SPEAKS OUT ON THE SLAP
By JOANNA MAZEWSKI
At the 2022 Oscars, Chris Rock made a joke about Will Smith’s wife, Jada Pinkett Smith, which enraged Will. He proceeded to shock the world when he walked on stage, slapped Rock, then sat back down and yelled expletives at him from his seat.
Many celebrities have spoken out about The Slap, including Amy Schumer, Kathy Griffin, and Alec Baldwin. Smith’s former “The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air” co-star Tatyana Ali — who played Ashley Banks on the show — now has something to say about it, too.
Smith's former co-star tweeted, “I love #WillSmith very much. @chrisrock didn't deserve to be hit. Period. My heart aches for what has happened. I don't know what caused that chaos & confusion, but I do know that Will has a big heart. I've seen him many times try his best to do what is right. I believe in him.”
Janet Hubert, who played Aunt Viv on “The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air,” also chimed in on the slap and seemingly approved of Smith taking a swing at Chris Rock. In her now deleted Instagram post, she wrote she was “proud” of Smith, saying “there’s only so much one can take.”
