Kim Kardashian's Limo Driver May Have Aided Robbery
Kim Kardashian's robbery may have been an inside job—and police believe her chauffeur may have been directly involved in planning the heist.
As Nicki Swift previously reported, 17 people have been arrested in connection with Kardashian's harrowing Paris robbery from October 2016, during which she was bound and held at gunpoint in her apartment at the Hôtel de Pourtalés. Now, insiders reveal two of the suspects who were apprehended are Kardashian's limo driver from the night of the robbery and his brother.
Officials told The Daily Mail that brothers Gary and Michael Madar were employed by the same livery company that toted the reality starlet and her family around during the fateful Fashion Week jaunt. Police confirmed to the paper that the drivers would know all of Kardashian's movements the night of the robbery (Oct. 2, 2016), which would facilitate the robbers to nab her jewels when she was alone and vulnerable.
People reports that the majority of the suspects in the crime are "seasoned criminals" who are well-known by French police. Sources told the mag that police spent more than two weeks reviewing surveillance footage from shops and restaurants surrounding the hotel in order to nab the alleged perps. Photos obtained by TMZ show authorities seizing items like big screen TVs from the homes of the suspects.
There's even hope that the Keeping Up With The Kardashians star may get her $4 million engagement ring from Kanye West back. A source told Us Weekly that two of the suspects charged with disposing of the bling may help to recover it. "They are involved in the diamond trade, and are thought to have handled the stolen jewelry," the source said. "Their homes have been searched from top to bottom, and so has a jewelry shop in Paris which is also linked to them. The jewelry has not yet been found, but these brothers could lead us to it over the coming days." The insider claims that the men frequently visit Antwerp, Belgium, noting, "It's a town where jewelry can be sold on with no questions asked. The men know the industry inside out, and may well know exactly where the ring went."
A source close to Kardashian, 36, told People that while she's happy progress is being made in the case, it's still a trigger for bad memories for her to even hear about it.
"Kim is aware that the French police have made arrests relating to her robbery," the source said. "While she is relieved they are making progress, any updates makes her relive everything. It's still very tough for her to deal with...she gets very upset anytime she talks about the robbery...she just wants to move on from it."
An insider also told E! News, "Kim is doing better but she still has a long way to recover from the robbery. She has been receiving some professional counseling. Her friends and family have been really supportive. Her sisters and mom have been checking on her every day."
