Demi Lovato Announces New Album, Tell Me You Love Me

The former Disney Channel actress is the latest pop star to announce new music in recent weeks.

On Aug. 23, 2017, Demi Lovato revealed that her sixth studio album is on the way. "New Album: Tell Me You Love Me coming September 29th," she tweeted, alongside a snippet of what sounds to be the record's title track. "Pre-order tonight at Midnight ET!! #TellMeYouLoveMe."

The 25-year-old also shared black and white cover art for the new album on Instagram. "I could not be more excited to share this album with you guys!" she wrote. "These songs mean the world to me."

Lovato previously released the first single from her new album, "Sorry Not Sorry," back in July 2017, which she's described as "an anthem for anyone who's ever been hated on and has risen above it and come out from the other side like a f***ing savage."

Lovato's announcement comes just days after Katy Perry teased a new video for her song "Swish Swish"—which has since dropped—and after Taylor Swift revealed that her new single would be released in the evening of Aug. 24.

Did Lovato purposely announce news of her sixth album to compete with her pop star rivals? Who knows, but it wouldn't be the first shady thing she's allegedly done.
