Aaron Carter Releases Statement Following Rehab Recommendation On The Doctors

Aaron Carter is facing an important crossroads.

According to Entertainment Tonight, the "Fool's Gold" singer was recommended to receive rehab treatment for his prescription medication use at the Alo House in Malibu, Calif. following his appearance on The Doctors on Thursday, Sept. 14, 2017.

Dr. Travis Stork updated Carter's fan base on the singer's condition in a newly released clip on Friday, Sept. 15. "He is yet to take those steps to go there," the doctor revealed. "He repeatedly tells me that this is what he plans to do, and he's not going to do it for anyone else but himself. But Aaron also has a lot of things and reasons....The mentality is once I can get these taken care of, then I will go."

"Aaron is committed to working on his wellness and being the best person and performer possible," Carter's rep told ET. "Whatever path he chooses to go down to better himself, he will do so privately and quietly. More than anything else, he is grateful for the constant support and love from his fans and he looks forward to a bright future."

As Nicki Swift previously reported, the 29-year-old received some scary news during his episode of The Doctors. "You have a mixture of benzodiazepines with opiates, which is how many people accidentally can die," Dr. Stork told the former child star, who lost his sister Leslie to an accidental drug overdose in 2012. The "Sooner Or Later" singer admitted he takes these medications "as needed" to treat his severe anxiety.

"I don't want to be on that stuff," he said. "I know that there is no happy ending to any of those medications....My greatest fear — not being able to live as long as I can."

Since the show's taping in August, the pop star, who was arrested for alleged DUI in July, totaled his car in a "severe" accident and was visited by police at his home after an alleged suicide threat

As Dr. Stork concluded, "Aaron, we're all still rooting for you."

While we wait for an update on the singer's decision, read up on the dark secrets the Carter family tried to hide.
