Pink Is Battling The Flu Ahead Of 2018 Super Bowl Performance
The show must go on for the "What About Us" singer.
On Saturday, Feb. 3, 2018, Pink (real name Alecia Beth Moore) took to Instagram to reveal that she still plans to sing the national anthem at the 2018 Super Bowl this weekend despite battling the flu.
"Trying to practice the flu away," she captioned a snapshot of herself rehearsing at the U.S. Bank Stadium in Minneapolis, Minn. "I've been waiting to sing this song since 1991 when I saw my idol, Whitney Houston, own this song. And now, my chance has finally come."
As the "Wild Hearts Can't Be Broken" singer continued, "And it just so happens that this chance comes when I have two small Petri dish kids who literally cough INTO MY MOUTH and rub their snot on my cheek. You can't write this stuff I swear! And here we are."
"I've arrived at another one of my dreams which is slowly becoming a sort of nightmare," Pink, who shares 6-year-old daughter Willow and 1-year-old son Jameson with husband Carey Hart, wrote. "I will tell you, this is one of the biggest honors of my life, singing this song in front of my family, my military family, my dad and brother and step mama and family and the world. And the EAGLES!?!?! I promise I will do my best, as I always do."
The mom of two added, "As far as the gremlins that got me into this mess, you can cough at me for the rest of your lives. If it's a contest, babies, you win. #spreadthelove #spreadthegerms #pleasegivememyvoiceback #ificansingimgonnakillit."
As Nicki Swift previously reported, Pink, 38, was chosen to perform the national anthem at the big game in early January. Meanwhile, Justin Timberlake, 36, is gearing up to take the stage for the halftime show.
On Friday, Feb. 2, the "Try" hitmaker tweeted a throwback pic of herself with Timberlake, who released his latest album, Man of the Woods, that day. "@jtimberlake oooh look who has a new record out!!!" she wrote. "My super bowl partner!!!"
Super Bowl LII between the Philadelphia Eagles and New England Patriots will take place at the U.S. Bank Stadium in Minneapolis, Minn. on Sunday, Feb. 4 at 6:30 p.m. EST, and will air live on NBC.
