Meghan Markle To Celebrate Christmas With Royal Family

The former Suits star is about to have one very merry Christmas.

E! News reports that Meghan Markle will join her fiancé, Prince Harry, and his family for the holidays, making Christmas a royal affair. According to the celeb news site, the British royal family, led by matriarch Queen Elizabeth II, will attend a morning service at St. Mary Magdalene Church in Norfolk on December 25, 2017.

"You can expect to see the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge, Prince Harry and Ms. Markle at Sandringham on Christmas Day," a spokesperson for Kensington Palace shared.

And while spending the holiday season with a significant other's loved ones is already typically a big deal, Markle's Christmas plans actually mark a major change for the royals. People reports that Markle will become "the first royal fiancée to spend Christmas Day with the royal family."

The magazine notes that even Prince William and Kate Middleton had to spend their holidays apart after they announced their engagement in November 2010.

Queen Elizabeth II may have been more open to making an exception to the family's traditional protocols, as, according to a source, she often grants grandson Harry's wishes. "If Harry asks for something, the Queen would say yes as she adores him," an insider told People.

As Nicki Swift previously reported, Harry and Markle shared news of their engagement on November 27, 2017. While details about their wedding are scarce, the couple is expected to wed in May 2018 at St. George's Chapel at Windsor Castle (via People). William will serve as Harry's best man.
