The Truth About Sara Ramirez's Ex-Husband
Sara Ramirez announced their split from their now former husband, Ryan DeBolt, in July 2021, just short of a year after they came out as non-binary via a refreshingly honest Instagram post (Ramirez also came out as bisexual and queer in 2016). Amid much speculation about the status of their marriage, Ramirez posted a shot of a flower to their Instagram account and confirmed in the caption, "Ryan and I are no longer together. We remain loving and supportive in how we are choosing to forge our new individual paths." They thanked their fans for respecting their privacy, while also sharing links to several LGBTQ+ organizations for them to donate to and support.
The following November, Ramirez spoke candidly about their relationship with their former husband, telling Out, "We had a foundation of real love.... I am just so grateful that we were able to work through that process with such grace, with such integrity, with such honesty and open communication. We were rooting each other on every step of the way." Proving the two are in a good enough place to joke about their romance, Ramirez then added, "I married the right man, because there's no one else I'd rather be getting divorced [from]."

Sara Ramirez's ex-husband is a businessman
It turns out that Sara Ramirez's ex-husband, Ryan DeBolt, is a pretty successful businessman. According to a LinkedIn profile that appears to belong to Ramirez's former parnter, he studied Finance, Entrepreneurship & Corporate Innovation and Spanish at Indiana University's Kelley School of Business, and has since gone on to become Senior Director, Finance at ServiceMax. He started there in 2018, after previously working with companies like Finca81, Monsanto, and GE. As for where he lives in the wake of his split with Ramirez? His page lists him as being local to the San Francisco Bay Area.
As for what else we know about the businessman (who you can see to Ramirez's right in the snap above)? He actually has quite a lot in common with Ramirez. DeBolt was born in Mexico City, Mexico, per Tuko, while Ramirez was born in Mazatlán, Sinaloa, Mexico. Not only that, but, just like his ex, he purportedly has a seriously impressive net worth. It's thought DeBolt has a whopping $4.5 million to his name, while Ramirez is thought to be worth closer to $5 million, according to Celebrity Net Worth.
Why did Sara Ramirez and Ryan DeBolt divorce?
Ryan DeBolt seems to enjoy keeping his private life just that, as he doesn't appear to have public social media pages and also appeared to mainly stay off Sara Ramirez's pages even before they announced their divorce. Despite somewhat shunning the spotlight that came with marrying such a big star, Bolt does appear to have a romantic side. People reported they got engaged in Paris, France, in 2011 and tied the knot on a special holiday (the 4th of July, no less!) the following year in a small New York ceremony.
As for why the now former couple decided to call it quits, neither has really spoken out about the nitty-gritty when it comes to their split — which was something they very much intended on. "We felt a huge responsibility because we also have family that's going to see this stuff, and we wanted to make sure that we had had private time with them to process before the world was going to process. I'm really, really proud of the way that we have moved through things," Ramirez told Out in 2021.
Notably though, the breakup happened after Ramirez shared a number of important messages on social media about transforming. One came in November 2020 when the actor shared a lengthy Instagram message that read in part, "There is so much to learn from practicing loyalty to our healthy boundaries and in turn honoring our authentic selves in each moment."
