Harvey Weinstein, Georgina Chapman Reach Divorce Settlement
The disgraced Hollywood producer and his fashion designer ex-wife have reached a settlement.
On Wednesday, Jan. 10, 2018, Page Six was the first to report that Harvey Weinstein and Georgina Chapman had finalized their divorce at the end of 2017.
At the time of this writing, no documents have been filed. However, according to the website's source, the two reportedly agreed on an eight-figure settlement, which is said to be between $15 million and $20 million.
As the exes tied the knot in December 2007, their official split occurred around the 10-year mark of their marriage. As per their prenuptial agreement, Weinstein will pay Chapman additional spousal support for each year of their marriage — after ten years, this figure increased from $300,000 to $400,000.
The former couple share two children together, daughter India, 7, and son Dashiell, 4. Chapman will reportedly get primary custody.
As Nicki Swift previously reported, Chapman, 41, left Weinstein, 65, shortly after a shocking New York Times exposé detailed his alleged 30-year history of sexual harassment and assault in October 2017. Since then, over 100 women have come forward with sexual abuse and rape claims against the former Miramax co-founder.
"My heart breaks for all the women who have suffered tremendous pain because of these unforgivable actions. I have chosen to leave my husband," the Marchesa co-founder said in a statement after the scandal broke. "Caring for my young children is my first priority and I ask the media for privacy at this time."
Weinstein said in a statement at the time, "Over the last week, there has been a lot of pain for my family that I take responsibility for. I sat down with my wife Georgina, who I love more than anything, and...we discussed the possibility of a separation and I encouraged her to do what was in her heart."
Chapman's close friend, Alyssa Milano, who reignited the "Me Too" movement on social media, gave an update last month on how the mother of two was doing amid the scandal. "Georgina is doing very well," she said on the Today show. "I think her priority right now is focusing on how to raise those two children to the best of her capacity given the situation."
